You don't suppose her back pain is that serious that she couldn't carry her bag on her shoulder, do you? It's just bad enough for her not to aggravate it. Besides, there's no way she can fight her way back trailing so far behind with a slight injury, why take the risk.

After all, she has achieved more than what she set out to do in this tournament, that should be good enough for now. It's only the beginning for her comeback.:)

Maybe not so optimistic, consistently ranked within the top 3 -4 and beating the best in the ROW is already an extraordinary achievement. I'll be satisfied with that for her.

It's interesting because the definition of the "greatest player" is different between people. I personally see it from what the player achieves as well as the quality of their game. Others like GC choose to include their support for badminton as a sport across the world.

Speaking strictly from the quality of the game and achievements, I would say Lin Dan would be the greatest player hands down when considering how many world championships, 2 olympic gold medals, etc. he has won even though he may not have won as many of the smaller super series tournaments. He also holds a vastly superior H2H against LCW and has defeated LCW at almost all the big occasions.

If the greatest player were to include the support for the sport and maintaining the highest integrity, it would definitely make a much closer argument because of LD's walkovers and withdrawals (which I suspect were not always his choice, mind you).

What? My top 3 -4 are Li Xuerui(1), Wang Yihan(2), Wang Shixian or Wang Lin (either one 3 or 4)...:)

Mathias Boe 7 sec delay short serve, only to be killed twice now by the japanese for being too high.

I suspect, not only the players and rivals, even some of the coaches and commentators are 'jealous' or 'envious' of Lin Dan.:p:D

How about calling a let whenever any player's string is broken? To take the element of luck for the opponent out of it? Just wondering.

But many times, player's string is broken because they were going for high tension in the strings or the shuttle not hitting at the sweet spot,so we cannot say that it's pure luck.

It's an open secret the CHN WS players are most vulnerable during the big occasions, esp the Team Championships. They often become so nervous, tense that they stiffen up, affecting their game. The pressure is so huge that every single one of them is fearful of being blamed for the team's downfall, as what happened in Uber Cup 2010 to Wang Yihan who suffered a lot as a result (luckily she overcame the major setback and emerged stronger than ever).

That's why I'd prefer LXR to be thrown into the cauldron, so to speak, as often as possible early in her career - to mould ,strengthen and steel her into a superwoman, the sooner the better.

Mathias Boe finally warned for his delay of serving. Was called a let instead of a fault though. 19-18 2nd game in favor of japanese.
