Ahh there goes away the full excitement of WC - too bad for especially Greysia and the Daddies who have been looking forward to this. Not to mention Minions who have been in right progress to get back to their best form (amazing how they always said they're extremely exhausted and yet always managed to get to the last day of the tournaments with two titles).

Momota also withdrew from the BWC.



Translation: "(Missing the WC) Following the Indonesian Association, the Japan Association announced on the 8th that Momota will not participate."

About INA team? If the vaccine is the cause, they'd mentioned it. Not to mention that it's undeniable and an easier excuse to accept. There was vaccine and quarantine period problem for several INA players around the FO 2021 and PBSI via Roedyanto published it.
 
Momota played all out with Loh Kean Yew (and still lost) and then lost HSBC WTF and WC.

What did they think at that time ??? just fight without thinking, not strategy ?

You are certainly right when it comes to ordinary tourists. However, different rules apply to business travelers or professional athletes. The booking conditions can be found in the invitation from BWF.

Statement on World Championships Withdrawals

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) can confirm the withdrawal of a large contingent of Indonesian players from the TotalEnergies BWF World Championships 2021 starting 12 December in Huelva, Spain.

Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) made the announcement on Wednesday morning expressing concerns linked to the COVID-19 situation.

A small number of Indonesian players remain in the draw.

BWF is disappointed with the decision by PBSI and regret that the withdrawal took place after the draw.

However, BWF and the Spanish Badminton Federation are now focused on delivering a safe and successful World Championships in line with the advice and measures put in place by the local and national health authorities, including a comprehensive set of safety protocols for all players, team officials and key stakeholders.

BWF can also confirm the unfortunate news that world No.2 and men’s singles defending champion Kento Momota has pulled out with injury.

Momota also withdrew from last week’s HSBC BWF World Tour Finals 2021 with a back issue and has returned to Japan.

Malaysian seventh seeds Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying on Monday announced their split as a pair after 13 years and have too withdrawn from the World Championships.

A majority of players have now arrived safely in Huelva and entered the tournament bubble. Round one matches start 10am local time on Sunday. There are currently no plans to conduct any redraws.

XD pair Ferdinansyah / Kani from Djarum has been confirmed to still go to the tournament. The other one is T. Sugiarto but he hasn't confirm

AFAIK they're XD pair Dejan Ferdinansyah/Serena Kani from the Djarum Club.
Tommy Sugiarto also withdrew, according to him, he followed the PBSI's move.

Exactly! The official statement of PBSI is bullshit. So the new Omicron variant is only dangerous for the players which withdraw and for the players from Indonesia take part at the WC it isn't ? BTW- Today there is confirmed one (!) new Omicron case in Spain , so until now there are eleven(!!) confirmed cases. So no need to talk about that stupid withdrawal.

Drawn against Anders Antonsen in R32, it will be crazy if he does go. Waste of money especially since he is an independent player.

Djarum can afford to sponsor their XD pair to give them more exposure. They will at most only reach R32, facing the formidable GER pair Lambsfuss/Lohau. However, Serena Kani wasn't even partnering her partner in the latest events (Bahrain IC and IS 2021). The last time they played together was in Austrian Open 2021.
