Victor will be the equipment sponsor https://bwfworldtourfinals.bwfbadmi...er-of-hsbc-bwf-world-tour-finals-2023-to-2026 It’s good that Victor are investing a lot into badminton. Hope they can adjust their court surface and optimise it more.
Good question. On my recent trip to China for the Asian Junior Championships, apparently there was a whole load of information in Chinese but only accessible through WeChat. Nothing in English. For a bigger tournament, hopefully there will be more English information.
Disappointing that the Indian pair in men’s doubles are not in the draw as they’re not eligible. I find it hard to believe. They are pairs who haven’t won any tournament this year yet they are in the tour finals, but the Indian pair won many tournaments this year and they’re not in the tour finals, which is really incredible!
Thjs tournament is all about Top 8 in 2023. So, system says you took part in n number of tournaments and you accumulated points to be in Top 8, so you deserve a place here. And not because you worked hard to win multiple tournaments and you dont participate so many tournaments just because to attend finals. System itself is a farce.
How did ShettyRR not qualify for this?? If you think about it naturally, they were WR1 like 2 months ago? Their WorldTour points cant really be that low in any case to not qualify for just top 8.
Pairs who haven't won any tournament are in the WTF? Rankireddy/Shetty are ranked 10. Of the 9 pairs ahead of them, only one (1!) has not won a tournament, and this pair is ranked #8. The "many" tournaments the Indian pair have won are also not ten, or five, or some other outstanding number, but three. What's more remarkable is that a pair with this quality has managed to crash out 4 times in the first round and 4 times in the second round over the course of the year. They've played 14 tournaments and 8 of them, 57%, resulted in early exits. In fact, apart from their three tournament wins, they only managed one other final. I also don't like the system, as it grants a lot of participation points for early rounds losses, but it is what it is and it has been that way for quite some time. (If you're interested: Rankireddy and Shetty have received 9550 of their 78590 points for losing four first round matches. 12% of their points are from not winning a single match. If you factor in the secound round exits, they've gotten ~30000 points for winning four games. That's quite generous, don't you think?) You make it sound like the system is rigged, or there's some global conspiracy going on, when in fact Rankireddy/Shetty have simply not been good enough. If they are smart, they are not asking themselves "why is the system so unfair?" but rather "why have we been so s..t for most of the year?"
Before giving facts, check thoroughly and then type whatever you wanna express. Satwik combo reached 6 finals and won 5 . So, your stats itself wrong. Asian championships and Asian games , you neglected for your convenience. And also, 6 finals is not bad either and winning 5 of them. Better than Momota I guess. Fans of satwik/ chirag definitely try to point out the discrepancies of the system. If you find it unacceptable , be with it. It is better than all the mantras praising momota in Momota's thread even when he play like **** for more than 2 years , losing first rounds whole year ,
Viktor almost didn't qualify. If he had not played in Japan a few weeks ago, he would not have qualified despite being world rank 1 the entire year and winning three Super 1000. It is just how the rules are (= not optimal).
I thought it was the top 14 tournaments right? So i guess they didnt play enough SS tournaments ?? on other note, SSJ winning male player of the year surprise me. thinks Axelsen should win it. Being consistent WR in singles are still tougher than being top 8 in 2 sectors.
It is probably for the double World Championship. Doesn't happen that often. Zhao Yunlei has done it not too long ago (2014 and 2015) but last time a male player accomplished it was Kim Dong Moon in 1999.
