With limited speed and stamina, it is very difficult for GMT to beat typical players like TTY and ASY, for me GMT is a slower and physically weaker version of TTY.
Han Yue does play like LXR, except for footwork which is not quite there yet Defence not the best either..
Marin has a cold! Is she allowed to play? I thought there are some rules against that... hmm... maybe just during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic
Agree with you. They play more patiently with less of UE. And yes those cross court shots/block (especially in G1) many times troubled Astrup/Rasmussen. But Rian still need to reduce his serves error.
Exactly what I thought. However, just like TTY, she went through some kind of physical transformation in the recent years which allowed her to break into the top 10. Not quite at the same level of what TTY went through though...
Despite having a bad head to head record against their opponents, both Fajar/Rian and Ginting managed to win the match. Good luck in the next match.
Something's not quite right with Han Yue today, a slow and tentative start from the get-go versus Marin. A couple of weeks ago at the China Masters, HY was one game up against Chen Yufei in the final before dropping G2 , 4-21, and conceding the match citing injury. I'd thought it was a minor injury but it probably disrupted her training, which seems to affect her stamina in G3 yesterday against CYF here, apparently, as she often gives me the impression of a runner in getting a lot back , somewhat in the mould of Akane Yamaguchi, I daresay, though not quite at the same level. In her match with Marin today, HY was just not in the game, committing too many errors, both forced and even more so unforced. OTOH, the Spanish bull Marin was in devastating form, her attacking ability from anywhere in the backline, including her deep backhand corner, as well as her jump smash was impressive. That coupled with her pretty good defence makes me think she might just be one of the two standing on the top of the winners podium come Sunday. Just speculating.
