Our full team is now in India. Joycelyn Ko, Alex Pang, and Michelle Li made it in late last evening to complete the team. They arrived a day later because the travel agent could not get tickets for them with the rest of the team. Fortunately, it was probably to their benefit to come a day later because on our flight from Toronto to Brussels, Belgium (then to New Delhi), a lady had a heart attack on the plane (actually, she was sitting next to Jon Vandervet ) and they decided to turn back right before we reached the half way point. So we had to turn back and go somewhere in Newfoundland to drop her off and refuel. By the time we made it to Belgium, then to India, we arrived around 3:30am instead of at 9:10pm the day before. We're all pretty good now though as we're up to face Uganda early next morning. A few of us opted to skip the opening ceremonies so I guess we'll see how things go. The individual draws were released yesterday and they don't look too awesome for most of us, but we will do our best
Best of luck. Don't let jetlag and a tough draw daunt that winning spirit. We are all cheering for the team!!
..wow, what a day, to say the least. I wonder what would happen if the plane had gone past the half way point, say 2/3 or 3/4 of the way? i would guess it would continue on rather than return all the way to Newfoundland??..
Saw michelle LI fought hard against thilini of sri lanka just now.. Fortunately, michelle manage to win the game in 3 sets
