CBA (Melbourne) League Competition: 2013 Spring Season

On Wednesday, 29-May-2013, at our Social Games Night, Jerry-L and SriKiran-G told me that they wish to enter the CBA League Competition for this coming 2013 Spring Season.

They told me that they have enough Mens participants, but not Womens.

This has prompted me to contact our many Womens CCCers to join in.

Please let us know if there are Womens CCCers wishing to join in; and we can have a trial session to select our players.

1. Julie-C (But she could be too strong for this event team)

Others could not be strong enough to be included; But you are welcomed to have a try.

There wasn't a meeting yesterday at our Wednesday Night CCC Social Session; Because no girls turned up.

Let's see what'll happen next Wednesday. :):):)

Why? Because we need to decide on the size of our team (thinking of how many men and women reserves we need), so that we always have some back-up players whenever some teammates are unable to attend.

Is this for C or B grade? If it's C grade I am perhaps too strong for that league and they won't allow me to enter (I'm not the best in B either though lol)...

B grade doubles is currently VERY FULL so you wont be able to get a spot - I spoke with Gary Grierson from CBA about 2 weeks ago.

I am currently not playing on Wednesdays anymore and have removed myself from my team.

However, I am playing:
1) Doubles B at Altona on Monday nights, and
2) B/C Singles at MSAC on Thurs night

So I am probably very booked out, sorry guys!

Perhaps we should have a meeting whether our CCC women players are there or not.

Why? Because we need to decide on the size of our team (thinking of how many men and women reserves we need), so that we always have some back-up players whenever some teammates are unable to attend.

We shall talk more when you attend tonight, 26-Jun-2013, at CCC Wednesday Night Social Badminton.

I just spoke to Gary - He said that CCC is to field in 3 men and 3 ladies for our team. Others (as reserves) do not need to have their names submitted.

We hope that Sri Kiran-G and Jerry-L will give us more info.

We also need to nominate a captain and vice-captain for our team.

At Last our team is complete ,though it took time ,we now have a good bunch of people who

we all can have fun playing with.




Gary the organizer asked me to specify only 3 main female and male players ,I will mention 3 names but let me be clear we shall organize among ourselves and everyone will definitely play.


so as of now our complete team details are as follows:

Give me some time to organise a team to play a "friendly match" against CCC-Mates.

It would probably be held on one of our CCC Wednesday Night Social Sessions.

Team composition....
In home & away matches we only permit 2 men and 2 ladies to play in the match.
for finals we permit a total of 5 people to play in an order specified by the match secretary.... we will provide extra trophies as needed.

Your team can be registered with up to 3 men and 3 ladies (extras would be treated as emergencies)
Matches start at 8pm and last 3 hours.

1 Mens doubles, 1 ladies doubles, and 4 mixed doubles are played
Normal order is MD, LD, XD, XD, XD, XD
first XD is the strongest mixed pair.... second mixed the other pair -- third mixed the lady from 2nd mixed and man from first mixed, fourth mixed remaining combination.

each match is the best of 3 rally point games to a maximum of 21 points
Winner is team that wins most matches -- if 3 matches each most games -- if same number of games most points.

Thank you Gary for the rules/format.

Regarding the 'each match is the best of 3 rally point games to a maximum of 21 points' rule, I gather that at 20-all, we play just one more point; not playing the 'difference of 2 points' BWF rules.

After the clarification of the rules from CBA, we can have 'CCC-Mates 1' versus 'CCC-Mates 2' (since we have 4 women and 5 men).

It's just a matter of calling all team members to turn up for one night before the league starts. :):):)

I will get the score-sheet from CBA; so that you teammates can practise how to fill in the scores/results.
