CBA, Melbourne, Winter 2007 Season Inter-Club Comp

Greetings,

Just received from Gary Grierson, the Match Secretary of CBA (Central Badminton Association, Melbourne), a mail asking if members@CCC would like to participate in their Winter 2007 Season Inter-Club Competition.

However, I am surprised that CBA have decided on some variations with the New Scoring System. To me, I cannot see any problem, if we are to follow it strictly/completely...... perhaps CBA should have consulted CCC, since we are the only club in Melbourne using the NSS.

Below is the mail from Gary.

Hi Chris,

CBA are currently into the last week or two of the Summer 2006/7 season which means that they will be calling for teams for next season very shortly.

At its recent committee meeting CBA decided it should move with the times and agreed to adopt the rally point method of scoring but with minor variations.
  • For the 2 player competition we will play singles matches as the best of 3 rally point games to 15 (no setting - stops at 15 points) and the doubles as the best of 3 rally point games to 21 (no setting - stops at 21 points).
  • For the 4 player competition we will play all matches as the best of 3 rally point games to 21 (no setting - stops at 21 points).
  • for the 6 player competition we will play all games as 2 rally point games to 21 (no setting - stops at 21 points) if each team wins one game there will be a first to 6 points tie breaker to decide the winner
  • In all instances you change ends at the end of each game...if the 3rd game (or tie break) is played you also change ends at the half-way point of that game (8,11,3).
  • Experience has shown that a match involving 2 rally point games to 21 takes the same time as a single game to 21 under the current rules.
We will offer these 3 formats of play:-
  • The days shown below are for teams based at MSAC -- and are the preferred days for teams based at other venues also.
  • 2 player - 2 men or 2 ladies or 1 man&1lady - each person plays 2 singles and 1 doubles. A grade Monday - B grade Thursday - other grades as required.
  • 4 player - 2 men & 2 ladies - each person plays 2 mixed doubles and 1 doubles - Section 1 Thursday -- other Sections as required.
  • 6 player - 3 men and 3 ladies - each person plays 3 doubles and 1 mixed - Section 2 Wednesday - Section 3 Tuesday - Section 4 also Tuesday.
Please start looking at seeing if you can get a team or two together -- forms will be available at the Winter season semi-finals and finals -- or can be emailed to you in the last week of February.

====== end mail ======

Please respond if interested.

Cheers... chris@ccc

Chris, I am only interested to play men double. As for single, errrrrr.....do you think they provide ambulance service, in case I fainted half way from playing. :p

Seriously and unfortunately, as discussed with you on Friday night, going to MSAC is kinda too far for me to commit to every week. I think I will give this a miss this time.

Chris, I am interested to play.

As discussed, am I guess i am section 4?.

I would really like to get my own team, unfortunately that was not possible since there were no playing ladies last friday at all.

The chance of getting a 4 person team is less likely to happen as 2 ladies are required.

Although, i could try to get a man to join my 2 person team if someone like single.

CBA are now asking for entries (as at March 2007)

Hi Players@CCC,

Received from Gary Grierson, the Match Secretary of CBA (Central Badminton Association, Melbourne), a mail now asking for entries

====== start mail ======

Hi Chris.

CBA are now asking for entries for the coming winter season -- The attached covering letter will explain full details of the various competitions we hope to conduct this season.

If you cannot field a full team please let me know of any player that might like to be added to a team..... we know of several clubs that have positions available for one or two players at different levels - and if you are female there is an even better chance of making a team.

So far, only BadFever and hkhung have responded.

I would say that CCC Badminton would not be able to field in a team of our own for this 2007 Winter Season Competition.

Anyway, Gary is suggesting that those 2 who are interested, they can join other teams to participate in it.

Please email Gary for more details.

Greetings,

Again, another mail from Gary...

WANTED -- Matches start May 10.

1 player for Singles B competition play Thursday 8-10pm

At this stage we are only able to field 3.5
teams in this competition.
play 1 doubles match - best of 3 rally point first to 21 point games
plus 2 singles matches - best of 3 rally point first to 15 point games

4 players for Section 1 competition
play Thursday 8-11pm
At this stage we are only able to field 3 teams in this competition.
We are proceeding with a draw of 4 teams hoping to be able to get another team together in the next 3 weeks.
Whatever format is played will be played using the same method of scoring as shown for the Singles B competition.
Ideally a team will be 2 men and 2 ladies -- but we are considering a 4 person format which would mean
that each player would play 3 doubles games a night.

The 4 person format can be any combination of men and ladies.

If you are interested in playing on a regular basis --- or even as a fill-in -- please let me know before Easter.
If you know of any-one who would be interested in playing -- send this email to them so they can reply.

Cheers... chris@ccc
