S1's Roughs
Hi S1!
Nice "rough" effort!
I'll try to give some constructive critique on each of your logo designs, going clockwise from the top:
1) Good idea to separate the title with the figure. Being the least solid of forms, depending on the printing/materials, do you think that it could peel easily? (Was it both the logo and player name in iron-on material, or just one?)
2 & 7) I didn't notice the Nike tick till I read DP's comment on this image, actually, I'll just compare the two similar ones now - I'd say that the left logo is better because it's a more convenient squarish shape and I like the single underline. (Sorry, another question, how necessary is the addition of the cccbadminton website to the club logo?)
3) Honestly, I reckon this is the least appealing of your designs in the post. It's a bit too geometrical and symmetrical. Got to love the simplicity, but it just resembles a street sign! (We should hang one outside Gate 4.)
4) I agree with Chris, unsophisticated, this would be my favourite too. Also having straight lines like the others, but nice rounded edges. I think it works as a logo for a friendly and approachable club.
5) As in each of the logos, it seems that you like really simple fonts, which would make sense for logo designing, but somehow I think that there's too much contrast between the shuttlecock and the font style. The shuttle image is interesting, maybe the cork part needs to be bigger, looks a bit like a fan right now.
6) Yay! More giant popcorn-swatting... haha! Just kidding. I think there's something about this figure's lines that make the club look kind of dated, less dynamic than it is. (I hope that I'm making sense...)
In my opinion, the most noticeable thing is your decision to not put 'www.cccbadminton.com' and 'club' together, but I don't know if you chose to for a purpose. I think that the word club is very important as part of the CCC logo.
Great designing work S1! I'm really glad that kelvin_k and you have shared your ideas (I thought people were beginning to pile all the pressure on me... but I've been saved!), we still need more concepts to generate ideas and finally make a club decision. Let's see some more (or more requests)!
