CCC at Waverley: Friday 02-Oct-2009 (A short report)

Hi CCCers,

A Short Report for our CCC at Waverley on Friday 02-Oct-2009

We had 15 attending this session.

Tips were given to our girls, Angela-N and Iris-L, on how to play Mixed Doubles (not the Level Doubles).

Pu (with his experience from Germany) demonstrated how excellent dropshots can play an effective tactical way to gain control in a Mixed Doubles rally. And our girls learnt to challenge each other at netplay (without needing to lift the shuttle at all). ;););)

The supper after our session was held at Ocean King at Glen Waverley. 6 attended.

I think ArcSaber Z Slash racket is very good, but I like the yonex Nanospeed 9900 better. the clear power of Nanospeed 9900 is better than ArcSaber Z slash. My ArcSaber Z Slash racket with Nanogy 95 (NBG 95) strung at 25/25 lbs and Nanospeed 9900 with NBG 95 strung at 25/27 lbs. Maybe I need more practice with my ArcSaber Z slash racket to get used to it, as this racket has longer shaft than normal racket.

P.s. in yonex promotion, longer shaft could produce more power. Is that right?

Hi Ketut,

Yes, I agree with your findings.
It's probably because the ArcSaber Z Slash has a lighter head than the Nanospeed 9900.

For lighter shots (dropshot, block, netplay, etc), the ArcSaber Z Slash feels better.
For power shots (smash, clear, drive, etc), the Nanospeed 9900 feels better.

Is there anyone who could take over the organising of our Friday sessions at Waverley

Last Friday, 09-Oct-2009, was our 170th Friday CCC Session at Waverley Christian College. Our 1st Friday session started on 28-Apr-2006. We have played at WCC on 170 out of the 180 Fridays. The 10 times we did not play were because the gym was not available for us.

For me, travelling across Melbourne (from north-west to south-east) to organise our sessions there has become tiring. I would wish to take a break, starting from the beginning of November 2009. I hope to take a break over the coming Spring/Summer months.

Is there anyone who could take over the organising of our Friday sessions at Waverley?

Please respond if interested. The college needs to know who will take over the responsibility for the conditions/keys/security codes of the gym.

:crying: I guess this month will be the last for CCC social in Waverley.
 
i would really really hate to see that friday's gone as there's nothing going on in summer as other venues are closed (except MSAC i think).

Maybe I have to play on a different date then.
 
We should also be closing down our sessions at Aqualink Box Hill

Our Thursday CCC at Aqualink Box Hill is also not doing well: (click here)
So we should also be closing down our sessions at Box Hill, I think.

Yes, the enthusiasm for Badminton in the South-Eastern Melbourne has dwindled.
Therefore, it's time to take a break.

We still have 3 more sessions for our Friday CCC at Waverley, namely;
1. Friday 16-Oct-2009
2. Friday 23-Oct-2009
3. Friday 30-Oct-2009

Hoping that after our break, we can come back with greater enthusiasm.
