Trial games
Chris,
Thks for the explanation. I don’t think anyone have any doubts or reservations about the handicapped system . I support your vision for the club.
What is to be written might sound contradictory to my earlier posts but I would say some are written without much serious thoughts (the grammatical errors is enough proof).
My posts were made with reference to the trial games and not to the club in general.. When these are organized occasionally , I thought it might be good to have some competitive spirit in it. Otherwise it would just be like any other social night if I may put it that way.
For example, if 3 or 2 high handicappers were to be drawn into a team playing against 3 low handicappers in another team. The handicaps will still be a challenge in this case as you have mentioned. But wouldn’t the weaker pair be subjected to greater amount of attack in order to win the game when it comes to ‘competition’. On the other hand , if a mixed pair against another mixed pair , the stronger player can vary the game , for eg. keeping shots low or positioning shuttles etc to prevent your weaker player being targeted all the times. Perhaps only if you are serious would you start thinking about your partner in court otherwise you would casually just want to enjoy your hit.
I might be too theoretical and wrong and the discussion could be endless depending on how positively or negatively you look at it.
Maybe DP read what I tried to say ( or really?) , ‘seeding’ but I try to avoid using it. For those who see post by ‘yschin’ ahh! not again , with negative mindsets even before reading … will think ..how about points ranking like IBF or what is the price money ?… yschin?? If you are positive about it then , eh why not? starting to think seriously about it (like you, Chris ) and conclude that it is a no go ‘cos of this n that.
It is good to see your membership steadily increasing and hopefully still a place for me .. how about honorary member … just kidding again.
