Lindan escaped by the skin of his teeth. Sai is one of the talented player who still expects his due.

Sikki/chopra fighting hard. It is equal score . But Danes are known for their extraordinary training regime for their doubles. If indian pair pull it out, it's good for their business

Apparently, even without watching the match, I have a feeling that every time Lin Dan has a 5 point lead or more, he tends to ease off as he wants to win the majority of his matches in the most economical manner so as not to overstretch himself when facing the more difficult opponents later.

I guess most of his opponents know that and would go all out to take the first game and hopefully catches him off guard in the second game.

Not only that my intuition tells me that Lin Dan nowadays plays most tournaments according to his moods more than his needs or wants, except for the major championships. of course.

All Malaysian Olympians lost in R1, except for Lee Chong Wei. A disappointing and embarrassing showing by the home player. This tells a lot when their junior performed much better than themselves.
A terrible showing in Malaysia Open.

Even more by Goh/Tan and Chan/Goh, the main pair in MD and XD. I don't think they can far in next few tournaments. So much for Goh/Tan wanting to do better than last year's R2 exit, losing in R1 this time. Piss poor showing time and time again.

Lin Dan continues to gain momentum, albeit winning by a small margin.

Tan/Lai is going to oblivion despite winning easily in the first set. It is always like this, huh? There goes the only surviving pair in XD.
    Really disappointing.

For this LD - SP match I actually followed livescore point-by-point, something I very seldom do if there's no livestream to watch. The way the score panned out, esp in G2 and G3,I sensed that whenever Lin Dan felt the score uncomfortably close as when SP reduced the gap to just one or two points or closed it, he would step it up and pull away like he could win points at will.

Based on this observation and knowing LD's capability, I've to say when LD gets serious, SP stands no chance.

I, Completely agree with you once again.

If there was a boxing style judgement in this match instead of a scoring system

All three judges would have unanimously given decision in B.Sai Praneeth's favour.

Setiawan was probably nervous playing against his old partner. So many unforced errors from him.

But how did you calculate errors made on court 3?

Well, it's damn easy to be dismissive of Lin Dan when he is no longer in his prime or motivated to win as much as he was before, apart from age catching up with him as well. Do you think any of these pretenders can touch him or even come close to threatening him in his heydays ?

So what when any of the top 25 players can stretch or even beat him, and he's no longer invincible ? As if Lin Dan cares too much. I believe there's not a single player who would not exchange anything or everything they've got in their badminton career just to be in his shoes where he can well afford to take it easy, hang around and perform as and when he pleases. What a luxury.

And we fans should count our blessings he is still willing to carry on for a while more. Enjoy while it lasts.

I think LCW - Hu Yun will be a cakewalk for the former.
