Aaron/soh won the 1st game 21-17. seems like every indonesian MD has trouble playing against this pair except for minions and ahsan/hendra.

Chen Yufei crashed out in R1 and joined the already withdrawn Chen Long for early Lunar New Year celebrations.

Not a good start to the new year campaign for Chou Tien Chen, unceremoniously bundled out by Lee Cheuk Yiu, 21-12, 21-17. CTC's second early exit in two weeks.

Apparently, Shi Yuqi is far from his best compared to his pre-injury period, making quite a few unforced errors.

Shi Yuqi spurts to the finishing line in G3, 21-10, not bad.

It just means Line K is not in CYF's syllabus. You know China is the only BA that rote trains its players against key opponents. So when they meet non opponents who are outside their syllabus, they can lose stunningly. That s why non-opponents should always realise they have a chance defeating CHN players.

yeah, Herry IP said something like he believed INA MD could have ranked 1-4.

I was like, who's the fourth pair? This pair?

I can assure you, rote training alone or mostly will never create real top players, just like university students who rely too much on rote learning can never go far in their exams and later in their careers.

I'm sure you are aware of the pros and cons or negative effects of rote learning. If it's that effective, how come so few players can beat the consistent Top 3? And how did CYF capture her 9th title so far in a little more than a year, not to mention defeating TTY twice within a month and others like Marin, Sindhu, Nozomi, Akane, Intanon, etc, practically all her main rivals? Rote training/learning?

Did you watch how Chen Yufei played and lost just now, especially G2? No doubt, Line K is no mean player, she can give any of the top players a run for their money on her day, and today happened to be it as CYF wasn't really into her game. I won't be surprised if CYF was taking it easy, and like Chen Long who withdrawn earlier, was looking forward to going home (hometown) for CNY reunion dinner; after all, February is a lull period, there's no tournament to play and they can go into some serious training prior to the All England in March. Just saying.

Allow me to add, pjswift, you've been talking about rote training/learning, particularly wrt to Chen Long, claiming that's how he beat LCW for the three majors as if he didn't have to clear the rest en route to the final - is it a top secret anymore that all the world's coaches are still unwise to your revelatory advice? I wonder.

Apparently, Son Wan Ho, despite a sufficiently long injury layoff, is still struggling to make a comeback, nowhere near his previous best.

If Sindhu wins today, it will increase her h2h to 10-0 against Aya Ohori
