    a little bit of preview on day 3 now that day 2 is winding up.

    MS:

    Wong ChoonHann vs. Budi Santoso - should go Wong's way, Budi is getting old. but you never know..

    Ronald Susilo vs. Peter Rasmussen - Ronald is improving and Peter is not as strong as before. we will see if Ronald will hold the Singapore flag for another day..

    Hashim vs. Hashim - this is the most talked about and controversial match. the brothers will play each other. who will win?

    Xia vs. Park - my vote goes to Xia.

    WS :

    still not much excitement here yet. the seeds aren't clashing.

    MD :

    not much here either except Jonas will be playing his first match against Archer/Hurrell

    WD :

    same. the seeds are still separated. should see more action the day after..

    XD :

    Jonas will play Archer the second time on the day in mixed. good luck Jonas.

    I truly hope elder brother beats little Hashim tomorrow.
    In regards to Xia vs Park, I think 95% observers would vote for Xia.

    i believe how far Hafiz goes in this WC and in the few big GP tournaments later on in the year will tell us if Hafiz has real stuff in him, or whether he will just be another Ji Xinpeng or Gopichand.

    Maybe I have low standard, I would like to add some more games:

    MS

    Round 2 Match 5
    4* Anders BOESEN {DEN}
    Wed 30 Jul at 14.40 Ct. 5
    Dicky PALYAMA {NED}

    This Dicky has been improving, I guess he upset Taufik once, and he has 15/13,15/9 won over Anders BOESEN DEN, and BOESEN, on the other hand, is over rated, IMHO, that is why it is interesting. and Dicky could be the winner. that would make the highest seed get upset for the day.

    Round 2 Match 11
    BAO Chunlai {CHN}
    Wed 30 Jul at 21.00 Ct. 2
    15* Bjoern JOPPIEN {GER}

    Round 2 Match 13
    LIN Dan {CHN}
    Wed 30 Jul at 21.20 Ct. 5
    16* Przemyslaw WACHA {POL}

    Just want to see these two seeds get upseted.

    WS

    Round 2 Match 5
    4* GONG Ruina {CHN}
    Wed 30 Jul at 14.20 Ct. 4
    WONG Miew Choo {MAS}

    WONG has big improvement...let us see how good she is.

    Round 2 Match 9
    LI Li {SIN}
    Wed 30 Jul at 18.40 Ct. 5
    13* Judith MEULENDIJKS {NED}

    I hope Li Li win.

    MD

    Round 2 Match 4
    9* Keita MASUDA & Tadashi OHTSUKA{JPN}
    Wed 30 Jul at 19.20 Ct. 5
    SANG Yang & ZHENG Bo{CHN}

    Round 2 Match 13
    CHENG Rui & WANG Wei{CHN}
    Wed 30 Jul at 16.40 Ct. 1
    15* Michal LOGOSZ & Robert MATEUSIAK{POL}

    Upsets are likely to happen here.

    Round 2 Match 10
    Patapol NGERNSRISUK & Sudket PRAPAKAMOL{THA}
    Wed 30 Jul at 16.40 Ct. 3
    7* CAI Yun & FU Haifeng{CHN}

    Upset could happen, if Cai/Fu are not careful.
    :)

    Hugo, why do you hope the elder one wins?

    Is it beacuse you feel compassion since he was humiliatingly defeated in the first round two years back? Or maybe you just like his face... hahaha! Then again, hafiz is the more dangerous of the two to the chineese.

    Anyway, I think younger hashim has the edge tonight although i would like the result to be the other day around!

    As for Xia vs Pak, I'll be the 5% chearing the underdog.

    Peter R vs Ronald S should be interesting. Would love to see it live

    Wong CH vs Budi (the smasher): I've only seen budi play a whole match once and from what i remember, he was smashing everything that was above net height. How he'll keep that up now that he's aging i would like to know. Should be an easy one to Wong.

    Is it me or is this championships still taking it's time to get exciting. The only big piece of news so far has been Peter Gade's loss - but even that was not totally unexpected.

    Agree. IMO, Hafiz's strength is in fact his calm and the focus on the game. There's still space for his skill improvement. But he seem couldn't persist his style after All England.

    Btw, greeting to everyone. I am a new comer and it's great to find this amazing forum! :)

    he certainly displayed a lot of calm and focus in the AE final this year. which a champion should posses. my question still remains: can he keep the same level of briliance for the remainder of his career, or was the AE performance just a flash and never to be seen again, ala Ji Xinpeng/Gopichand.

    only time will tell...

    and welcome yowkee. hope to see you more here in BF!

    interesting you mentioned that. i find that there are a lot of players that i do not know in this WC than last. and the seedings really separated the more well know players. as a result, many of the matches played are played between two unknown or one seed against an unknown. this makes the tournament less interesting as the results are quite predictable.

    in the WC 2 yrs ago, we have early upsets of Agus/Ji Xinpeng and then TamKC/Roslin.

    It's usually pretty close when Anders and Dicky meet, but I think the odds are about 7 to 3 in Anders favour this time. First because Anders have won most of their previous meetings (as far as I remember), mentally giving him the upper hand. Second I've read that Dicky has been suffering from a small injury in his left knee, so he is not 100% fit.

    Hashim brothers clash - elder bro leading 8-6 in second game.
    Another upset on cards? Reigning All England champion for an early flight home?
