Both u and pjswift could be right, it could be motivation or just plain unpreparedness against supposedly not so strong opposition. Then again, with the new scoring system, there is practically no "supposedly not so strong" MD nowadays. Everyone can beat everyone else. Though I still feel that fitness and age is a factor, even the 3 top pairs have had poor tournaments esp. running on the trot, it would be much harder for Choong/Lee, Tony/Candra and the veteran Danes. I fancy the World No 1 ranking will be "playing musical chairs" with some of the top pairs for some time yet ...... and not necessarily due to them beating each other.
