Srikanth looked a little out of touch.

Looks like I am not wrong today. CTC/SYQ upsets higher ranked opponent today.

So the idea of going to National Championships is a disaster?

Sukamuljo/Gideon also got the same issue last year..

What a disappointing tournament for Srikanth. I will give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he is not 100% because of his injury. And maybe that prevented him from carrying out his routine attacking game.

Having said that, assuming he is not 100%, even if he gets his attacking game back, he can't rely on attacking only. Compared to the top players, Srikanth has weaker defense and control. Srikanth can improve his defense and control. Chen Long is an up and down player these days. But if Chen Long is in the zone and playing his crazy "wall defense" mode, Srikanth's attack probably won't be enough to beat Chen Long. IMO, if Chen Long is playing in the zone, nobody can beat him, not even LCW, LD, or Viktor today. If Srikanth improves his defense and control, he can also extend his career, especially as he grows older. Hopefully, this loss shows Srikanth that he has areas to work on.
