Guys. This is his first tournament after injury. This is not an ordinary Super series where he could regain his touch before meeting top guys in the quarters or semis. He has to be ready from the first match. Unfortunate, he was injured at the wrong time.
Hope he regain his fitness before PBL starts on 23rd of this month.

Lai's defence is not up to the level required here.

I think VA and SYQ would disagree.
Assuming that VA beats CTC, the outcome of KS vs. SYQ determines who wins the group.

RI is already thru to the finals. If she lose on 2 straight sets tomorrow, and TTY wins in straight set against SJH, 2 wins 1 lose for the RI, CYF and TTY. This would mean the net matches won will be determine who would progress to the SF, and that would be RI: 4- 2= 2, TTY 4- 3= 1, CYF= 5- 2= 3. If this would be the case, then TTY would be out of the tournament.

For TTY to progress, she needs to win first against SJH. If she wins, two things can happen. RI loses in 2 straight sets, TTY is out. RI loses in 3 games, then total points scored would determine who would qualify between TTY and CYF.

If both TTY and CYF loses tomorrow, TTY would progress by virtue of win over the other.

I agree with this part. Chen Long has the best defence in the world when he's in his element, and when his attack and counterattack is going well too, he is indeed the best player at the moment.

Next year with Kento Momota also back into the fold of top level tournaments, we are in for a big treat, what with Chen Long and LCW being in hot pursuit by a number of established and new contenders such as VA , SK and SYQ, including KM, of course, and who knows, a couple others on the horizon. My only concern is LCW's top form, due mainly to his age, may not be sustainable, at most once or twice a year (next year only ?). We'll see.

If both TTY and CYF loses tomorrow, TTY is out having lost twice against CYF's single lost.

Why can't Lai smash instead of just blocking at the front court?

Kamura/Sonoda played very well, beating Minions 21-17 21-17
Do they regain their touches that was gone in the past few months?

not disappointing, made a lot of money winning 4SS. How many got even half of that? and depends on what you think is disappointing to what he thinks is disappointing. He looks injured and not at his best, Afterall, this is badminton anything can happen to individual(s) in any given day even if he is at top form.

if RI wants to finish first in Group B, she needs to win one game against CYF.

if RI wants to finish second in Group B, she needs to lose in straight sets against CYF.

if RI wins against CYF, then RI may meet TTY again in the final, which RI would not want. ;)

RI would rather CYF finish top of the group.

Its just more relaxed after losing one match, than not losing imo.

i guess RI has to think about her chances against Yamaguchi and PVS (in Group A) in the semi-finals as well.

But obviously RI's top priority will be kicking TTY out first.

I think Sayako Sato skipped the smash training sessions back in her badminton school days

Not sure RI is bothered by TTY. She seems to be the only player in the WS circuit that could tackle TTY. So, if TTY would be booted out, RI would be the least happy.

Sayaka Sato pretty clueless in this Dubai Finals...

Sad to imagine the great matches we could have had with either Carolina or Nozomi in the competition

This is the best I have seen Kamura/ Sonoda played this whole year! That was a tremendous performance o_O

The only pair able to outspeed the indonesians in those flats exchanges

NKLong's win over SWH is the surprise of the day for me

Funniest is that the last time they met was in Dubai Finals 2016, where NKLong also won in three tight games
