CHN and DEN shuttlers skip this SS meanwhile INA, MAS, JPN together with host IND have registered their main players.

This event is the last tournament before the beginning of 2012 OG qualifying events . This event was supposed to be the last tournament before the beginning of the London 2012 qualifying events and many of the top players were expected to participate. However, with the dates of the new domestic league in China clashing with the Indian Open the Chinese players were forced skip the event. This means Indian audiences will miss the likes of Olympic champion Lin Dan and women’s world number one and two Wang Shixian and Wang Yihan. The Chinese always skip around three to four Super Series in a calendar and this time they chose the Indian Open.
