    Quote from today's Kompas:
Candra mengakui luncuran kok lawan cukup cepat, membuat dirinya dan Sigit sulit mengontrol permainan dan lebih banyak bertahan. ”Tidak apa. Kami datang ke sini sesungguhnya lebih untuk mencoba skor baru,” tutur Candra.

This explains why Candra/Sigit look so relaxed after the defeat and were busy discussing with each other at the presentation ceremony. At least they didn't appear to be that disappointed at losing the match

Essentially, he said that the speed of the shuttle was a bit too fast for him and Sigit to control the game, which was why they were forced to defend most of the times. Anyway, they were in Yiyang mainly to test the new scoring system.

I watch fu/cai vs sigit/candra match. Definately the ina pair isnt going all out for the match, you can see sigit always laughing when he made a mistake or when he hit the shuttle to cai yun. At the end of the game you can even see candra mimicing the chinese pair celebration. while the chinese pair took it seriously.

well! i think this show the lack of sportmanship on the Ina pair. or maybe this tournament just doesnt really attract them????

I like ZN best too. She's very classy looking, has a strange demure look to her. Something I can't quite put my finger on but yeah, I like her. :p

Me too. I like Zhang Ning very much. Although she doesn't have the most attractive face, but she is very graceful and woman-like in her movements. The way her arms move, the way she runs/walk, the way she smiles. Very lady-like indeed. :p

the INA pair were definitely not trying in the match. there were so many shots for Sigit to put away at the net, yet he was playing w/ Cai Yun and smile afterwards. Candra had so many opportunities at the back and dropped 3 times consecutively.

i saw candra minmicing the chinese's celebration too. i thought it was kinda funny. i dont think they like the 21pt system?

i still dont know what happened to the INA coaches? does anyone know?

    From Bola:
The coaches were not there because it was an invitational tournament (???)
So, only players competing were sent there.

I watched the game but I did not feel that Sigit/Chadra were taking it easily. I felt Fu/Cai were playing a superb game with lots of attacks, which fit the 21 points system very well. Cai's net coverage was like Tony Gunawan at WC2005, creating a solid wall and Fu's smashing was deadly. Furthermore, it would be very dumb for Sigit/Chandra to fool around in a tournament like when they were millions of audience watching the coverage live.

The next meeting between fu/cai & sigit/candra will be very important for their mental state.

    1. if fu/cai win, this will put a lot of pressure on sigit/candra as this will make them not to fool around and the chinese pair will beat them anytime.
    2. if sigit/candra win, fu/cai will have a mental block on their opponent. This will give them an impression that sigit/candra can beat fu/cai if they take the game seriously.
just my opinion! Cause the Ina team are good with psycho tactics! :D

from the very first game at the world cup, cai and fu look very sharp, i didnt see any weakness as it seem they have made improvement and were ready for sigit and candra. It mean the indo pairs have to up their standard to beat cai/fu in the next go around. Ca/fu exploiting the new 21 rally pt system too, going at 100% when the umpire said 'Play'.

I just finished watching the video and agree, it seemed like Sigit and Candra were playing around, not even taking the game seriously. There were so many opportunities for them to attack and they just dropped or hit a half-effort smash (I don't even want to call it a smash). Then they were imitating Fu/Cai after they lost, raising their hands in the air and trying copy Fu/Cai's gestures.

I wonder what happened to Sigit and Candra; and what was there motivation or rather, therelackof.

Well, I think Sigit and Candra were floating everything up there and quite a few short. This will make Fu and Cai look very sharp. If you serve up cookies to arguably the best smasher (currently), he's going to BOMB you and make you look foolish, which is what he did. :p

Well, in other post, Candra already said their motivation
"Anyway, we were in Yiyang mainly to test the new scoring system":D :p

Ahhhh, well they didn't "test" it very well. But I do give Candra and Sigit "10s" for their imitation of Fu/Cai celebrating. Maybe they have a future in acting when their Badminton careers are over. :p

I agree, why even show up? That is the question.
