It seems HBJ is the best WS in CHN camp right now. If only she could win over PVS in the bronze medal match :(

She looked slow and not aggressive enough.

ASY looked plenty aggressive at 10/11-15 in G2…but she seems to have trouble reading HBJ’s shots. Their head to head probably eats away her confidence as well, not to mention HBJ’s jump smash is a monster.

Nah, he was already out of gas at the end of G2. Usually, the same happens to Naraoka; the latter must have started working on his stamina.

yeah, but he can run after game 2, and truly exhausted after 12-7 in deciding game. He can not move anymore.

Nakaoka often jumps at the back court (clear, drop or smash), that why he was so tired.

    FINAL
    upload_2022-4-16_15-59-51.png

Final round of this S300 tour is dominated by home representatives and its neighbour China which has secured two titles, only two categories that involving players from different nation.

The Olympic Champions are clear favorite to top podium (again), Wang YL/Huang DP restore fine touch moderately after a string of hiccup lately, they trounced Jin Y/Lee YR to take on teammates Ou XY/Huang YQ who surprised them in GER Open recently. The new Chinese combination had little trouble in early second game before regrouped to catch up and back to good rhythm to outplay MAS pair, Goh/Shevon Lai. Huang YQ played all around to contribute major part of the victory and covered his average partner. China plan in mixed doubles raising big question and stays puzzled whether Zheng/Huang combination will be exist or current restructed partnerships will be continued.

A breakout tournament for Naraoka or promoted player from reserved Jeon HJ at the end? The Japanese rookie passed all of his opponents hardly to pocket final ticket including how he outlasted Soong JV in physically demanding match, actually he could reserved energy when took handsome lead in second game 11-5 but lost narrowly 21-23, the delayed victory for Naraoka as Malaysian ran out of steam faster in decider. 2017 champion Jeon once was Korea promising star in Superseries era then took long break since All England 2018 then returned to action on last year major events Thomas & Sudirman Cup. Jeon vanquishes Thammasin, both players are big smasher but the Korean is equipped with better defense and doggedness to beat quite reckless and hurried Thai player.

Du Y/Li WM fail to deny all Korean finals, going down to 2017 World Junior Champions Baek HN/Lee YR in 110 minutes tiring clash, classic WD competition that containing unstoppable rallies, clear shots trading until one of two pairs committed error. It'll take longer time for China to form solid second WD combination to back up their #1 rank Chen/Jia.

Home fave An SY hasn’t found the right formula yet to crack He BJ code as she had no answer to respond Chinese left-hander deception and lethal smashes. An formidable defense and steady play looks blunt to face He various strokes and precisive drops, saw some high difficulty and wonderful shots that displayed by He to surprise world #4 several times. GER Open rematch will happen tomorrow, Chen YF is stretched into gruelling battle to beat Wang ZY. A biggest test awaits Chen YF in finale to relive the moment of victory, the on-fire He BJ is slightly favoured considering her late performance and last encounter in Mulheim an der Ruhr.

Former world number two pair Kim GJ/Kim SR unexpectedly through into last round, vast experience and glimpse of expertise assisting their winning over the stubborn JPN young duo Okamura/Onodera in nail-biting tie, 21-19 for third game conclusion. Tokyo OG silver medalist Liu Yuchen steps up into second final with new partner Ou Xuanyi who performed more reasonable in MD.

The women's double match between Du Y/Li WM and Baek HN/Lee YR recorded the longest rally in badminton history...195 shots!

This rally from 2020 is supposedly longer (250+ shots):

I could not find an official record though. Is there one?

Whatever the shuttle is chosen, WD should use shuttles one speed faster. This is the kind of doldrum that marred WD in the past and often kept WD off the TV court.

There may be argument to use shuttles that are one speed slower for MD. However, that's not so obvious. The super human reflexes by MD players are astonishing to watch, and fun, for the spectators.

I agree, women's doubles should use one speed faster shuttle than singles discipline; otherwise, it becomes more of a game of attrition and a test of stamina than skills. That's for BWF to come out with a different set of specifications for shuttles to be used so as to increase the entertainment value as there are just too many long, boring rallies to engage the attention of viewers in women's doubles.

At 20-18 in the first game it looks like some part on the right side of his right shoe teared and KGJ taped it up in the interval.

Switched to the blue Yonex SHB65Z2M at 2-7 in the 2nd.

But yeah, doesn't speak for the Quality of Technist's shoes and he even blocked the camera man from seeing how they taped up the shoe:rolleyes:

Excellent idea. Or looking at it from a different angle, women players should do the shuttle speed test for themselves. Quite likely the shuttle testers are usually male players.
