@shosasakigamba,
The Mount Saint Vincent club is a good place to start if you don't have contacts here. If you can't find someone to match your skill there, there might at least be someone to tell you what else is available in town.

Also, Dalhousie University has a badminton club at Dalplex. (?Friday/Sundays)

tangent90 : October 2015? You are planning ahead!

For badminton, just post when you arrive and somebody here can set you up.

For neighbourhoods: it depends what you want..... trees, privacy, big lot and a commute vs. smaller, more expensive but in town. If you are coming from England, house prices will seem cheap here.

Hello Guys,

Just moved to Halifax for my masters degree at Dal. Had a steady group of baddy friends in Vancouver. Itching to play now. Waiting for school to start and see if I can find some schoolmates who are also into badminton. Lemme know if anyone has a court that I can drop in! I'm Chinese but no where close to the pro levels as my Asian-mates. slight competitiveness in me though! ;)

cheers guys

The dalplex is probably the biggest place if you want to meet people playing badminton.

Hi, I just recently moved to Halifax. Was wondering if there's a club here that plays feather? Thank you.

The smartest thing you could do is to head up to the Canada Games Centre today or tomorrow. The Canadian Masters Tournament is in its final days. Not only can you watch badminton for free, but you can also start conversations with locals who can tell you about their baddy groups. :)

Dalplex is also a good place to go on Wed, Fri, Sun nights when they have the club nights. Or Sunday afternoons you might be able to talk your way into a game and meet folks. But there's a fee to get into Dalplex. Plus they might be still closed with students writing exams this month.

Welcome to HRM!

Hi, I'm looking to play badminton in Halifax area , preferably close to Clayton park area .
I would consider my level as intermediate to advance (with few days practice).
Please let me know any club and group I can join as I don't know anyone who play badminton -

In Clayton Park there is the Canada Games Centre (CGC). Don't know if it has a "club" but if you join you can rent courts with friends.

For feather-only clubs, you may want to contact Badminton Nova Scotia and they might give you some names to connect with.

At Dalplex (deep in the South End) they have a "club" that meets Wed/Fri/Sunday. I am not involved but it seems that it does accept you if you show up and be polite. There is likely a large range of skills and you could see with whom you fit in.

There are some drop-ins around, but they are plastic for the most part.
Plus there is the Halifax Sport and Social Club which might be a good way to meet people.:) I believe it might meet at the CGC in Clayton Park. But that is a plastic group, as well.

Good luck

Hello Everyone, I am looking for the badminton lessons for my kid (12 yrs old). Do anyone know about badminton classes in HRM region which my kid can join or any private coach whom I can contact? Already tried Canada Game Center but no classes there for summer. Thanks in advance.
