Hello my name is Joel and I’m from San Diego, California. I just found this forum and decided to join. Here’s my story: I got started playing badminton on a whim while at my first community college (Southwestern), just to be a full time student class back in the 1990’s. This is where I dropped tennis and fell in love with badminton as my sport. Then, life got in the way, completed university, then work, then back to school to become an acupuncturist. Then in 2000, I got the bug again and started playing again at a different community college. This is where I had a complete rupture of my right Achilles tendon. I had surgery, went to rehab, but it has never been quite the same. I thought that I would never play again.
But the love of playing got to me recently where I went back to complete that last badminton class from 24 years ago, and now I’m hooked again. I’m not good, but I just like playing and moving around, and trying to beat some whipper snappers along the way. Badminton has helped me regain some of my health, loose weight and gain some fitness back. I try to not get hurt and to recover as quickly as possible to play again. My other hobby that I got back into is stringing my own rackets, so I also plan on using the forum to get some tips to improve on that. Thanks to everybody in advance.
