Tonight at our local badminton club, (playing doubles), a player served however the shuttle went into the wrong box making contact with the opponent in that box. Is this a fault by them or by the opponent for not moving out the way to let it hit the ground?

    the server got the point.
the shuttle should make contact with the ground first before it is considered a fault. If the opponent touches it befire that, then the point goes to the server.

unless you're not using a standard rule. just like me when I play, we sometimes catch the shuttle before it touches the ground because it is clearly out or a fault, and sometimes because ikt will go to the other court if we don't prevent it
