Lets say Hendra-Ahsan is playing against their countrymen Kevin-Marcus in the semifinals of Indonesian Open. It was a hard fought battle and in the 3rd set, the score is 20-12 for Hendra-Ahsan. Suddenly, Ahsan has an injury just as he smashed to the net. Not a major injury, but will limit him tremendously once the adrenaline wears off. This is something he had experienced before, and will take at least a week to heal.
Ahsan is faced with a dilemma. On one hand, they almost certainly will win the game if he continues. But, it will almost be a certainty that they will lose tomorrow in the finals against the formidable Chinese pair Li-Liu. He's not even sure if he'll be allowed to play with this injury. He knows that Kevin-Marcus has an excellent record against Li-Liu. So he considers retiring the match due to injury just so Indonesia can get at least a good chance at winning Indonesian Open. Besides, he knew that Kevin-Marcus will certainly reimburse his prize money once they knew of the situation.
What do you think is the right thing to do here?
