Regardless of the outcome of this event, i feel it will definitely generate greater interests in the sports especially at the high school levels. And also it will make high school players to train more in order to qualify in this prestigious event every year. As a result, the level of competition will also elevate every single year. This kind of rivalry is always good for the sport, it will create love and hate relationship ! We must thank Yonex to sponsor this event in conjunction with US OPEN. In addition, thanks to OCBC for hosting the event, and Tom Wilmshurst & Ed Matanga for organizing the event.
Homestead High school moved down and Cupertino High school moved up so upper league is now composed of Gunn, Monta Vista, Saratoga, Lynbrook, Wilcox, Palo Altos, Cupertino. and lower league has Mountain View, Milipitas, Los Gatos, Los Altos, Santa Clara, Fremont, Homestead.
Bump. Oh, some interesting things: Terrence is playing with his brother for the regular season, Zenas is supposedly playing mixed for the regular season (anyone verify?). It was interesting to have pre-season games this year, although the results were interesting for our team, winning the first match 27-3 and losing the second 3-27. Another random tidbit: The San Jose Mercury News now reports our scores in terms of matches (total of 15 varsity matches and so a total of 15 points), which kind of sucks, because that's not how it's supposed to be. It skews the results, and potentially could screw up how they count who wins: If one team wins all the V1 matches and one other match, then they technically have more than 15 points (3 points each for V1), but the Mercury News would then report it as a loss, 6-9.
There was a vote in CCS to change the rules but no one voted for it lol. They still like the old rules. And as for Terrence playing doubles w/ his bro, he says he's playing singles at league.
Hey guys, I'm from Milpitas. Terrance played singles still. His bro and some other dude plays doubles V1.
Of course Terrence is playing Terrence is still going for singles at CCS, because seriously speaking, they would have major issues trying for good results at CCS. However, Zenas will face stiff competition at singles (Terrence, Son Nguyen, etc.), which makes mixed doubles seem more appealing. The thing is though, he lost the other day, which was pretty unusual. Haha, OSS and NSS. The truth is, I've been indoctrinated by the old scoring system, but NSS makes more sense.
I used to play boy's singles V1 last year and some of the year before. I didn't play this year though.
