any chances that anyone has the videos for today matches ? ESPECIALLY SIGIT/WIJAYA VS BLAIR/CLARK ... I'm really interested on how they defeated them... or how they lost to them and also WONG CH VS TAUFIK , though this is not THAT suprising as compared to the doubles. Again, this proves taufik to be a very inconsistent player, he is a skillful player yes, but inconsistent, only extremely superb when he is in form, that's no use. Look at Lin Dan, always consistently march to at least the quater finals, if not semi finals, before packing up.
yes.. taufik is a law unto himself.. from the rumours i've heard, he trains as he pleases, he plays as he pleases, but when he put's his mind to winning a tournament he is unstoppable. lin dan on the other hand is a model of consistency, but is destined for burn out i think like many of the chinese singles players before him.. wouldn't surprise me to see taufik win the world title again in a couple of years, and again a couple of years after that.. he may not win many other tournaments, but he win's the one's that matter to him.. Coops
Yes! YES!! GOOD JOB!!! Malaysian Team has shown a great performance!!! may i know where did you get the scoring from?...thank you very much!!
Good lesson for Taufik to learn FAILURE??? I think already learned that many times.. thats harsh thing to say man
well, whenever he get defeated, i think it is a good lesson for him... cuz after he get the olympic championship, he thinks that he always the No.1...
They seem to be updating the results on the HK Badminton website now. Several from today have gone up already. Big change from yesterday since none of Wednesday's scores were up even as of mid-afternoon Thursday. Now plenty are up. I'm getting them from the Chinese version of the site but they might be on the English, too. Anyway, they both link to the same .pdf files for the drawsheet. Kuan Beng Hong went down to Lin Dan 15-12,15-6. Gade finally ended Wiratama's giant-killing with a 15-5,15-12 victory. Canadian Bobby Milroy took lots of points from Chen Hong before going down 15-9,15-13. Alright, Canada! An upset could be in the future.
Speaking of not upsetting top-ranked players...Tracy Hallam beat Anna Rice of Canada. Seo Yoon-hee lost to Wang Chen.
Yeah, not all bad news. Gan/Zakry didn't just win, they beat Paaske and Rasmussen! But it's a bummer that Chan/Koo lost to the big Chinese guy (WC XD silver medalist) and his partner. Still no word on the other 3 Indonesian pairs among whom Luluk/Alven were playing against Chew/Khoo.
Yes, I don't see how Blair/Clark could beat Sigit/Candra but hey, every dog has its day. My hats off to Blair/Clark.
Err...its a W/O as far as I know for Gan Teik Chai/Abdul Latif Mohd Zakry. I think Jonas Rasmussen is injured. The XD match between Jonas Rasmussen/Britta Andersen and Anggun Nugroho/Yunita Tetty also resulted in a W/O for the second Indonesian pair yesterday. Bad results for Chan Chong Ming/Koo Kien Keat, which IMHO is still pretty unstable in terms of achievements. They can perform very well in one tournament (Denmark Open) but came up short in the other (like today in the HK Open). I think Luluk/Alven will take the match against Chew/Khoo. Bad days also for Team Indonesia, especially the MS. NONE of the three players reached the quarter-final stage. Taufik's result is kinda not surprising to me because his record against Wong Choong Hann is not that great either. As for Sony and Simon, what can I say.....perhaps a change of coach is needed? Sony again showed his frailities in playing rubber sets. Meanwhile, Simon does need to improve his mental condition and gain some more match experience. The most shocking result is the defeat of Candra/Sigit to the British pairing of Clark/Blair. Candra/Sigit has been pretty consistent this year, with the only bad result being at the All England Open. Other that that, they have reached the final of ALL tournaments they are involved in. Let's hope they can recover their form in next week's China Open, which will be also their last WGP event of the year. Tonight will see five Indonesian pairs in action, 3 in MD and 1 each in WD and XD. I hope Markis/Hendra can continue their good form and win their match against the aging Flandy/Eng Hian. Meanwhile, Anggun/Yunita has a tough match against Eriksen/Schjoldager while Jo/Greysia also has a winnable tie against Andersen/Schjoldager. Let's hope all pairs can progress safely to the quarter-final If indeed Indonesia has at least 4 pairs in action tomorrow night, I will probably stop by Queen Elizabeth Stadium to watch the night session. The afternoon session only has Nova/Lilyana playing against the Olympic silver-medallist Robertson/Emms.
candra-sigit probably coz sigit was fasting for the Hari Raya celebrations? ah well, they'll do better in the coming China Open! no doubts bout that!
From the head-to-head records, Wong leads Taufik 6-3 now (with today's result included). Similarly, Taufik's records against Bao Chun Lai and Peter Gade are 2-4 and 5-7 respectively (with 4 of those victories in 2004 and 2005). These are the players that trouble Taufik most.
Taufik's loss Maybe Taufik was fasting. Could someone in HK confirm that during the match time-outs he was not taking in any fluids.
We'll confirm first with our eyes whether they - Sigit, Hafiz, Latif et al take any fluids during their matches or not. The fasting month ended yesterday, but it does take about 2 or 3 days to fully recover their normal body weight.
WCH won in 3 WCH beat Hidayat 15-12 in the third, LCW beat Li Yu also by 2-1. Refer to site I earlier posted on this site for Morten, hope he is getting that results too.
