The MS final between LCW and PG is the best of HONG KONG Super Series Open men single finals in recent years. Beside LCW's lightning speed and powerful smash, his defense against PG's attacks is out of this world. Truely remarkable performance by both players, a great match to be remembered...

I think more enjoyable as a neutral just watching some hard-fought points. Less agro between supporters heh

Many people in the Hong Kong SS Open are big fan of Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir included myself. When the Polish pair fought courageously and won the title in two games, the whole stadium went wild and roaring like thunder. This definitely marked a major milestone in Polish badminton history...

The Eastern Europeans have arrived. With this historic Polish win, the Bulgarians and Russians will hopefully use this yardstick to mount strong title challenges.

Interesting that top Europen XDs have male players over the age of 30.

not only xd players - also in singles and double the europeans can stand tall in their 30th as they have shown today:D:D:D , very different from the Asians who ran out of steam early:confused: - or just have enough money much earlier?:eek:

Europeans tend to peak around 26-31 in terms of fitness IMO

Naah, they do peak in their 30s, but not in terms of fitness. More in terms of tactics. Fitness-wise, it is still when they were in their 20s.

Asians use more pace and power in their game, so the top ones esp from China will run out of steam while still in their 20s. But that's not a problem for a badminton giant.

Though I suppose European players can manage their energy better because of their excellent footwork compared to Asians. I remember the Malaysian Thomas Cup winning team of 1992, very few of them have proper basic footwork because it was not among the curriculum in BAM until they roped in the Chinese coaches in the late-80s.
