Only two players (winner & runner-up) of each group who will advance into knockout phase (semifinal).

Major upset strikes WS opening day where Chen YF earns unexpected lost to Tunjung, both players show contrast development lately, the Indonesian is enjoying improvement while the Chinese indicates downward trend. No variation or innovation from the top-seed that made her pattern was so readable, Tunjung played freely to dictate game that empowered by some tricky shots to trouble the below par and lack of inspiration the Olympic Champion. A dire situation for Chen as she must beat two arch-rivals Yamaguchi and An SY to through into semis, the Japanese is more and more understand to vanquish KOR prodigy, deducted long rallies with her effective offensive shot or disguising drops..

In MS group A, Naraoka pockets important win against Prannoy in close battle, what a waste for the Indian who did careless shots to end the balanced clash. Axelsen formidable defense is so immune to tackle Lu GZ hard smash then constructed counter attacking shots that flat footed the Chinese, level of play discrepancy to illustrate this lopsided contest. Group B, Loh KY and Ginting have good start in their opening match, former World Champion outspeeds Chou TC, trimming rushing shot particularly his advantage area at front court.

Surprisingly Chen Yufei beat Yamaguchi in straight sets 21-19 21-18, what's wrong?
If Chen Yufei beat An Se-young, she can go to semifinal

    2 Chinese WD also won convincingly, Zheng/Zhang beat Apriyani/Siti 21-14 21-19 and Chen/Jia beat Pearly/Thinaah 21-13 21-15

Double hit by yufei. Akane pointed out to umpire but no avail. These things cant be viewed by umpire unless BWF provide review system to correct it. This depends on morality of that player who hit it. But , no player will accept that he/she did a double hit. Not even once before. So, we can't blame the player .

I don't blame to players or umpires, I blame to our system in which we can watch to the video by slow motion to make everything go right.

Football has VAR, why not badminton ?

Hawk eye is slow motion but only in a court not players or rackets.
Even football has Goal Line Technology then VAR and the new one is Semi-automated offside technology.
Ofc football is the biggest not only sport but entertainment.
    BWF must think about this.

FIFA's VAR is a joke. No transparency and everyone can see Japan's winner against Portugal was out of bounds.

a double hit is legal as long as the racket is moving in a single continuous direction.

    13. FAULTS
13.3. if in play, the shuttle:
13.3.7. is hit twice in succession by the same player. However, a shuttle hitting the head and the stringed area of the racket in one stroke shall not be a ‘fault’

WS Group A, it's open wide for all players as they score one win and one lose, third match in group stage will determine the outcome. Sigh of relief for Chen who finally ends five-time losing record against world number one. The Olympic Champion constructs unreachable shot for the Japanese ace that's why she tends to be more aggressive today, designs attacking scheme to direct tight net shot then powered by signature cross court smash. Unusual negligence by Yamaguchi to find deadlock suddenly when staying ahead 14-8, 17-14 then second wind emerged for Chen to catch up and take over the lead as the Japanese high pressure is on.

MS Group B, once again Loh KY reiterates familiar blunder, was unable to convert two match points that exposed his vulnerable side, mental aspect in crucial stage. Foreseeable scenario has been written in deciding game to witness one way traffic duel as Singapore representative executes relentless nervous shots and yields generous point for his rival. Ginting has pocketed victory twice after edged out Chou TC who kisses goodbye from semifinal spot.

JPN is drawn alongside ESP, GER, CRC then lost to CRO through PSO in last sixteen. When did Japan face Portugal?

That's what I thought too, CYF didn't do a double tap of her racquet, it's one continuous motion. Yes, the shuttle hit the racquet head and then the stringed area, and she simply follow through with her racquet.

100% a double hit. Why is this even up for debate?
