Good run by Hu Yun reaching the final of Japan Open 2014 beating Chen Long and Jan O. Jorgensen on his way. He seems to have new fighting spirit and also looks very fast and in sharp form. I really hope he can give LCW a good fight or even win, given his form.
HU YUN! What an extraordinary run. We just had the pleasure of hearing that Hu Yun defeated Chen Long, and the pleasure of watching him defeat the infuriated Jan O Jorgensen, in the Japan Open 2014, to make it to the final. I couldn't find any other topics on him, so please excuse me if there is a thread. Hu Yun is a 32 year-old from China who plays for Hong Kong. In the recent Japan Open, you can only see his match with Jan O Jorgensen. In the first game, you could see Hu Yun's proper aggression and ability to dispel Jorgensen's attacking play. It was really fascinating to see that he could handle such attacking play well, which begs the question: can he defeat LCW in the final? I think it'll be a very close game because Hu Yun has handled Chen Long, who has great coverage, and Jan Jorgensen, who has a good attacking play.
He was very fortunate in game 3 after 15 all, as Jan practically imploded after that by making 6! unforced errors in a row to gift the match away. Against LCW tomorrow in the final, if Lee is feeling generous and lazy, Hu may get 30 point in total... but if Lee is not in the mood and wants to take the early flight back home, Hu will be fortunate to get 15 points total. No comparison in terms of skill or fitness.
Hu Yun had been sponsored by Babolat for a long time and used Babolat Satellite 6.5 Power. Since when is he sponsored by Yonex and which racket does he use now? Thanks!
I can't believe he beat Chen Long now that's really impressive. Anybody have a video of the game? I would love to watch to it!
Wonderful backhand on this guy. He seems to be smart too. On opponents that he feels are stronger than him, he uses the first set to wear them down
Hu Yun (as the first seed in 2018 Malaysia IC) lost against player rank 285th at Round of 64 https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/draw.aspx?id=15241A4B-59CF-40AA-A932-4734F42B89B4&draw=2
Not only lost, but lost 21-7, 21-6 ! No disrespect to the deserving winner, Prasetyo, but one has to assume that it wasn't Hu Yun's best day.
Or it could be another scenario happen. He is clearly giving message "Hey I can't play anymore for the team event (Thomas Cup). If anybody push me to join, this result will be happen next time." The same thing happen to Wei Nan I think.
