This is their explanation. But I notice the site was down on Friday evening. I wonder where they get 2am? Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you for taking the time in sharing your thoughts with us. We do apologise for any inconvenience caused. The problem you experienced was due to a misconfiguration between the domain’s name and its physical address, commonly known as the IP address. This took place on Saturday, 24 April 2010 at 2am. Nonetheless, ICanBook services were still accessible during that time and we have been guiding guests facing such problem via our helpdesk. The technical correction was done on the same day at 7am from IMSPL. However, the change may only come into effect slightly later, after verification from the Internet Service Providers (ISPs). In addition, a workaround solution was also put in palce at 9am the same day. This has assisted guests by redirecting access from the incorrect web server back to ICanBook web server. With the exception of online payment through eNETS, guests were able to perform login and bookings. For bookings made during this period, payments can still be made with cash over counters at any of SSC's facilities. For the affected bookings, we also have extended the slot release time to 48 hours so that guests can have more time to do payments at their convenience. The issue has been fully resolved on Sunday, 25 April 2010 at 5am. Please be assured that the team is committed to ensuring the smooth operation of the system. We have been monitoring the system closely since then, and will take any necessary steps to prevent such incidents from happening again, including using automated monitoring tools. Once again we apologize for the inconvenience caused. Best regards,
In short, we switched IP address. Most likely, they use the same environment for test/dev/live system. DNS propagation. They should set the TTL value to few seconds before they make the changes to IPs. The default value is normally 14400 seconds. They are contradicting themselves. How could they redirect a web server while DNS has not fully propagated yet.
If It's the holding time you're referring to, then I guess there is no mistake as they have currently revised it back to 1 hour instead of the previous 28 hours. Cheers =)
Please check icanbook website and u will see NOTICE TO ALL GUESTS UPGRADING OF BANKS' SECURITY SYSTEM Please be informed that a new security safeguard is being implemented by banks to provide another level of authentication for online transactions with credit-cards, as mandated by Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). For 3-D Secure sites such as eNETS which ICanBook is using for the credit-card payment mode, you will be prompted to enter an OTP (One time Password) to authenticate the transaction. As such, we advise that you update your contact details with your credit-card issuing banks as the OTP will be sent to the cardholders, usually via SMS. Please check with your respective credit-card issuing banks for more information on this procedure. Date: 7 Oct 2010 by ICanBook Operation Centre
I think onePA should adopt IcanBook way of fully blocking slots when someone books (for a short period of 15min) until payment is made. The current system do not block the slots until one gets into the payment gateway.
Anyone having problems lately? I tried 3 credit cards but unsuccessful. My gosh.. I am in debt... damn... Frustrating.. wasted my sleep...
Dear Hirer, The slot release time for following booking has been extended to 28 hours due to failed payment in eNETS: ICanBook Ref No. : XXXXXXXXXXXX Please arrange to make payment before the slot release time expires. Should you have any queries, you may contact our hotline at 68482077 or send us an email at csr@icanbook.com.sg. Thank you. Best regards, ICanBook
Is it true that robots software can be used to book this system? I can't get them on saturdays in tampines. Anyone can help me to install this software? tks.
you not a techie la... go sleep la. I mean I am trying to book tampines twice. I saw it green and selected them. But still cannot pay saying that it is booked. Something must be locking it. Anyone have similar problem? I know there are simulation software that can do auto bookings. Does this work on icanbook? I also want to use it. Thanks.
booking payment unsuccessful again. wasted 30 minutes of my sleep time. Communication problem from the operator. Why can't they just extend booking for 24 hrs after a few 'failed' tries? Frustrating.
