Not sure if they are double specialist at this point.... basically singles focused players playing doubles on the side...

You will see many different junior players coming out in doubles. While some also play singles for better court coverage. We also have singles players playing doubles for a variety of strokes in singles. 2022 onwards India will be in better shape in doubles.

If I'm not wrong, KS switched to singles after playing doubles . Who was his partner? I'm waiting for the day when India has a strong doubles team in each category.

Gopichand's priority was singles and he forced Srikanth to switch. A top level doubles coach Tan Kim Her was finally hired Dec 2015. Each year you will see improvement. Look at it as a block of 10 years, 2000-2010, 2010-2020 and 2020-2030. By 2030 India should be strong in doubles. That is a long time but since we started late it will take time to get a system in place! :)

    I like these league system
Allowing different players to play together and increase the variable in a (team match) which change every year

Hope more flexibility can occur in other countries' league and that BWF give more time for such leagues to take place

I find it a bit boring as they often use weird scoring systems and the level of competition is quite low. Once a year is enough....

Personally , I want the normal scoring system (bwf) in this league but their motive is to make it more appealing with the audience. Also , the level of competition is relative. Depends with which competition you are comparing it to like bwf tour events. We can't compare pbl to chinese super league. Competition in this league is improving year by year though.

I like seeing players from different nations playing together, for example, but having one league with that format running for a short period of time is enough for me. I want to see 90% really competitive badminton, at least, and only a bit of fun/mixed stuff like these leagues

Agree, once in a year is enough

My idea is to have them in parallel together, once a year
I see these as a way to increase local fanbase/exposure based on regional causes

Those will still occure once a year

Lakshaya Sen wins a thriller to march into the finals. Of course, he himself made it nerve wrecking with a string of unforced errors towards the end of the 3rd game.

Lakshya Sen misses out on gold after losing in straight games to his Chinese opponent. It must be so disappointing for our players for not having been able to convert at the final hurdle, both Saina and pusarla have experienced it in the past. It's a good showing nevertheless, way to go Lakshya Sen.

I watched the match. He was totally out of sync. I dont know whether it was because of the fatigue due to semi-final against kodai naroka or simply nervous . He has 2-0 h2h against li shefeng. And also he has experience of playing finals. There is no reason for him to get nervous. But li shifeng played positively. He used this opportunity to stay focus till the end. He himself and his coach were extremely happy that he beat lakshya sen.

Fatigue was a factor in Lakshya Sen's loss,
he had to play team event as well as a gruelling semifinal with Kodai Naraoka. The worst scenario was India finishing with 0 medals after Vaishnavi Jakka Reddy lost in the group stage. Lakshya got a silver medal as consolation, he was not happy with his own performance in the final. He has shown a glimpse of his talent. He is 17 and has 4 years till age 21. These 4 years will give him valuable experience on the senior circuit and we will see him become stronger, fitter and better as a player. Any good performance before 2022 is a bonus and can't be ruled out. Lakshya will be in his prime 2022-2027.

That was such a matured post from a 17 year old to put the winner in the first place rather than highlighting his regret in the loss.

Are former players like Chetan Anand, anup sridhar, arvind Bhatt and aditya Prakash into coaching Indian players? One of the two (arvind Bhatt or anup sridhar is in Prakash Padukone academy).

Anup Sridhar and Arvind Bhatt were briefly in Gopichand academy. They were seen in the coaching bench in a few tournaments last year
