A very decent performance from BSP soaking up the pressure, the kind of pressure that he'll have to handle in BAC, I hope he will take this confidence forward and lead India into best position in BAC.

BAI revamps domestic structure introduces 3 levels of tournaments at the senior level with increased prize money. This is a good initiative at the grass roots level of Indian badminton. It gives an incentive for players to take up badminton as a career and helps identify talented players.

    Excerpt:
The revamped structure will have three levels of tournaments with Level 3 having six BAI Series badminton tournaments in a year with Rs 10 lakh as prize money for each tournament. With no restriction on entry in qualifying, 30 singles players and 15 in paired events as per the BAI rankings will get direct main draw entries. While the first three tournaments will be held from May to June, the next three will follow in November.

In Level 2, four BAI Super Series badminton tournaments will be held with a prize purse of Rs 15 lakh each. The top 48 singles players and 24 doubles pairs as per the BAI rankings will get direct main-draw entry and players with ranking points from Level 3 tournaments will also be eligible for the qualifying draw. The first couple of tournaments at this level will be in July with the last two in December.

The highest level will have a prize purse of Rs 25 lakh and will be called the BAI Premier Super Series tournaments. These events will have restricted-entry and will have no qualifying. In a league-cum-knockout format, the top eight singles players in the BWF rankings and the top four pairs in the BWF rankings below 100 BWF Rank are eligible for direct entry. Besides, the top 24 singles players and 12 teams as per BAI rankings will also get direct entry. The Senior Nationals will be part of the Level 1 tournament with a INR 50 lakhs prize money.

This is a good initiative by BAI to increase the prize money and have a proper structure of tournaments. But I really don't want to see players like Diju/Rupesh Kumar, Ansal Yadav, Shreyanshi Pardeshi, Megahana/Poorvisha win these tournaments because they literally don't have any chance to even win IS/IC level tournaments. It somehow brings the quality of these proposed tournaments if players like them win.

In the short term while we are still grooming our doubles players, players like that will win. But in the medium to long term, new talent will emerge. Patience is key while you build a team for the future.

I'll try to be optimist. Past developments have taught me that keeping hopes high will always bring disappointment.

It’s good to try first and see how it influences development. Obviously some players will want to give preference a local tournament than go out for a ranking tournament. But for these things, you don’t know until you try.

It’s good for the young ones to get consistent tournament practice against the higher ranked players.

Good. I already lost my interest and became passive . Seeing the results of our players, better be in dormant mode until we see a new ray of hope. That's what i am doing now.
Today , indian top MD player Chirag Shetty lost his doubles in Badminton Asia Championships to Kazakhsthan. What can we expect from them?
