India Badminton

Interesting News in on-going Indian National Badminton Championship : 31Year old (1994) Shruti Mundada plays against 14 Year Old(2011) Tanvi in WS Semi-final. Appreciate Shruti's efforts all along for so many years.. First of all ,she is Fit to play Singles!. When National Chief Coach's daughter didn't continue play Singles, she continued. Also, kudos to her parents & coaches as well for their support for so long! when she didn't get high level success like Sindhu & Saina. She is not playing many international tournaments.

Not sure about Shruti Mundada's (financial) back-ground, even if they are relatively rich, at-least INR 50 Lakhs to 1 Crore to be given by BAI/SAI for her efforts in Badminton. If BAI is not giving, "Crowd Funding" can be arranged by badminton by Fans/Well Wishers and Job to be given to her in RBI/PSPB if it not given so far.

The Senior Nationals Women’s Singles final features two unexpected contenders: Tanvi Patri and Charisma Surya Tamiri. Tanvi had to battle through three grueling matches in both the quarterfinals and semifinals, overcoming Akarshi Kashyap and Shruti Mundada along the way. Charisma surprised Unnati Hooda and Rakshitha Ramraj.

While her talent is evident, Tanvi still has much to develop in terms of tactical awareness and shot variation. The coming years will be a steep learning curve, but by the time she reaches 17–18, she is likely to mature into a more complete player. From 2028 onwards, she should be ready to truly step up. Until then, every victory she earns is a valuable bonus on her journey. The younger generation is leading the way and is a fearless group.

Charisma Surya Tamiri is the WS champion, she beats Tanvi Patri in 3 games. Hope to see Charisma build and step up from here. Tanvi needs to build physical strength but a good outing making the finals.

I worry about MS. Not a single youngster is a world beater. But have to wait for 2 years to know how it goes.

MS - Ayush Shetty ?

What about WD & XD ?

WD - why don't the smash all - clear all girls take a break , show up in Dec 2026 , beat tier 3 teams from all countries to win syed modi SS300 , rather than first round exits from now till then. Treesa has to do bulk of the work still. Why don't they pair up Tanisha & Treesa , I guess then the pullela girl will be a goner , can't be used in XD or WD.

XD - gone case .

You are right. XD is gone case. Dhruv Kapila can’t smash at all, nor is he fast. Gopichand will never want Treesa to stop pairing with Gayatri, otherwise Gayatri will be out from international scene. Tanisha screams so much, half her energy gets wasted and lose in first round of almost every tournaments

Yes, you are right MS has not shown any new talent even in the u- 19 and u-17 level. Ayush Shetty is the only player who has shown some improvement against top 10 players, but still has a lot to learn. WS remains the most exciting group and should lead the way but we have to wait till 2028.

Anybody know what happened to Satishkumar Karunakaran?. Could not see his name anywhere ? He lost interest and left the badminton scene?

Sai praneeth returned to India and joined Gopichan's academy and coach Men Singles. He will accompany the team to Thailand masters super 300 next week.
Trump effect ?.

Three years ago I was in Chengdu watching the Asia U17. I was very impressed by some of the quality the Indian boys had. What happened to them?

This year at best we can hope for Super a 500 title(s) across MS/MD. 750 & above are hopeless.
Exciting MD teams and MS players out there, we have no one close.
WS if our argument is that our players are young they need 3-4 years, other nationalities ain't sitting idle.
WD, XD 🤣 (when will we ever have a Chen-Toh / Christiansen-Boje)
--A much disappointed Indian Badminton fan
