India Badminton

Aditi bhatt was a singles player and was playing singles . I don't know when did she became doubles player. So, dont judge the result of HK pair from this. They are good but I don't think Indian pair is good.
Aditi Bhatt was partner of Tanisha Crasto during 2018-19 at nationals in India

Satwik is very angry. He told to Indian express and Prannoy that he will never let his future kids go into badminton. Because when Team India reached Hyderabad airport, with Thomas cup medal hanging around their neck, many Telugu people were there but guess what, no one came to celebrate as all were busy watching IPL on the phone

When you reach that level and understand the place the sport holds—and the amount of love it receives—in India, especially at a time when most people are consumed by political upheavals or cricket, what else can you really expect? Seeking love and attention from such a crowd should be the last priority. Play purely for the love of the sport, knowing there are fans who are cheering them on but couldn't be there to receive them

Hi Vivek, seeing you after a long time. Hope you’re doing well.

I understand your point but here in this country, sometimes frustration happens when you see people not recognizing or acknowledging your achievements. I feel the reaction is very natural considering how much elevation the sport has reached in the country like never before in terms of medals at TUC, AG, WC and others. Today, I sent a message to Chirag Shetty on instagram without any hopes that he’ll read it. Anyway, good talking to you after a long time. Hope to see more of you during Asian Games and other events.

I was engaged in orthopedic residency for the past two years. I have recently started playing in my final year and will be pursuing my love for the sport. It is so nice to see you again brother

So? That's their (meaning people's) choice. No one should advise them on what to support or whom to support. I don't like this stupid mentality of begging people for attention, just like how people beg on youtube to like/share/subscribe. To just win one good match against Chinese Tapei and get a bronze medal and ask people attention, don't you think it's tooo much? What If people respond back by saying each tournament the government spends crores on a single player without any outcome whatsoever. Why should we care, when result is zero. Cricket on the other has earned that respect (by wining many WC trophies in the last 15 years or so). Learn to accept that and move on.

Remember what Prakash Padukone had to say

It's high time players take responsibility. The Govt & Federations have done whatever they can. Players are not working hard enough."

Sindhu is having new coach who was also Christie's coach. Sindhu is well past her prime. Look at the voluminous amount of wastage done by the players. Our womens MD is absolutely pathetic. They don't score more than 10 points yet and are sent for participating in tournaments where the average expenses of the player will be minimum of 5-10lakhs. If you look at the amount of money spent on Lakshya and things he has won, there is no comparison. Huge money investment for nothing.

P.S:: It's really funny when in a recent interview Satwik mentioned how he takes inspiration from Indian army for performing duty without any recognition whatsoever. Here he is crying like a baby for attention. Dear, Satwik, please look up to the great AJIT DOVAL. No one can do what he has done and still doing for India. :) :)

India has only won ODI cricket World Cup twice in men’s cricket. And T20 World Cup is not prestigious as compared to ODI. Even useless bilateral series win is celebrated in India like crazy which show sick mentality of cricket fans in India. Badminton is not an easy sport like cricket. Requires lots of fitness. Badminton can never have fat players like some players in cricket are fat. Can’t even run properly that’s why only wants to make four and six runs

The biggest frustration for Satwik/Chirag right now is the lack of sponsorship. They went into the 2024 Olympics as genuine medal favourites, but their quarterfinal exit closed the one door that matters most in Indian sport, an Olympic podium. Even a bronze would have transformed their commercial visibility overnight.

We’ve seen this pattern before. Saina Nehwal’s 2012 bronze made her a household name and unlocked major sponsorships. PV Sindhu’s 2016 silver did the same on an even bigger scale, turning her into one of India’s highest‑earning athletes. In India, the formula for mass recognition is simple: an Olympic medal equals national fame and corporate backing.

Satwik–Chirag have the talent and results, but without that Olympic medal moment, the mainstream spotlight hasn’t caught up to their achievements yet.

You never understood my point. I am not comparing the nature of sport. I am comparing the nature of results.

We also won 2026 T20 WC recently. T20 World Cup is not prestigious as compared to ODI, who told you this? There is enough prize money and huge fan base for t20 wc. The above performance is top notch and deserves a praise. If badminton players can achieve 40% of this in top tier tournaments (like all england, asian games, olympics) they will be recognized more. Also, there is no comparison in how cricket is marketed throughout India vs how badminton is marketed.

Indian badminton players haven't not won even a single super 1000 trophy in the last 1.5 years, i don't think other than Lakshya Sens all england final, we haven't made it to super 1000 final in the last 1.5 years. First perform and then ask. Achieve 30% of what Kim/Seo have achieved and then shout. Just shouting by winning one game against Chinese Taipei, won't do anything. There are so many Indian Chess prodigies who do well and stay silent.

Aman Sehrawat and Swapnil Kusale won Olympic bronze medal but Lakshya Sen who had 4th place finish got mainstream spotlight. Sen choked so hard in SF as well as in bronze medal match at Paris 2024

I think it’s Satwik and Chirag’s choice as well to shout because I think they had enough. They want Instagram influencer like followers I think

Lakshya didn't get sponsorship deals like PV Sindhu. If he had won he will have massive deals. Srikanth also missed out in 2016. For badminton olympic medals equals big sponsorship deals.

But PV Sindhu is over hyped in my opinion. Zero performance in Super Series events. I don't think she has a won a title in super 750 or super 1000 events, but in main important events like World Championships, Olympics, she has managed to perform.

Yeah they can keep barking. People wont hear their barking also 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
I agree with you on most parts, but there’s probably no need to be that harsh. As fans, the best we can do is support them as much as possible. The results ultimately aren’t in our hands and can’t blame both of them, they are trying as much as they can, maybe that’s the ceiling they’ve reached and can’t have their breakthrough

I wish they break up the pairing and mix and match with other players, like what the chinese and indonesians do as pairings reach their ceiling
