Used to many provincial govt lures athletes from other provinces with the promise of being state employee as well as cold hard cash. It was quite rampant before PON.

Again, I thought INA main forces are not allowed to play in PON?

BTW, when will our IJs (Indonesian Juniors, I mean) be sent to their first international tourney?

Oh, the policy of: INA players competing in the Olympics [not main forces] should not play in PON only came afterwards... Before that, yes, badabum is correct... before PON, the top players are lured by different provinces with hard cash. Don't know about civil service jobs afterwards. I've never read that in any official policies. Maybe unofficial policies.. :p

By Indonesian Juniors, do you mean the Pratama team? I suspect the Singapore International Series should be a good test... :)

It seems all primary players will skip upcoming 17th National Games in Samarinda, East Kalimantan where the schedule is too close with Beijing Games.

    - XVII PON -- 06 - 17 July 2008
    - XXIX OG -- 08 - 24 August 2008

Previous PON was triennial event but since 1996 it had become quadrennial (same with Olympic year) which is so unfavourable time for athletes who absolutely put top focus on Olympic Games.

Sepeaking of PON Tony Gunawan is representing East Java lol........well these Pratama kids....I am looking forward to their development....well but I fear that some of them do the 'curi umur' practice i.e. claiming that they are a few yrs younger

Well, they've passed that so-called anti-age-cheating test conducted by PBSI. Unless they can find some way to manipulate the result, or bribing the testers, I think everything will be just fine.

That test was one of the cause why Seleknas was postponed.

Bambang Suprianto will paired with Shendy Puspa (Djarum) in Walikota Cup, I guess for PON preparation too.

Surabaya, E Java (ANTARA News) - Shuttlers from seven countries look set to take part in the international Indocock Surabaya Mayor`s Cup to be held here on April 29-May 3.

East Java team is preparing for the PON with the following players:
Jeffer Rosobin, Fauzi Adnan, Tony Gunawan/Tri Kusharyanto, Bambang Supriyanto/Bagus Suprobo, Yunita Tetty/Lelyana Deasy Chandra

Team Djarum also has at least Meiliana Jauhari/Shendy Puspa Irawati participating in the Mayor's Cup in Surabaya next week. It will also be good to have Fran Kurniawan/Shendy Puspa Irawati as well as Fran Kurniawan/Rendra Wijaya and other MS and WS players to be involved in this national competition.

Yup...just for fun I suppose :D Not much cost anyway to enter the local competition in Surabaya. The Indocock Walikota Cup will offer as much as Rp 105 million prize-money, less than an International Challenge event (US$15,000) like the competitive JPGG Surabaya Challenge which is also held in Surabaya.

The international players will only compete in the junior events, not the senior events.

And... this Walikota Cup is one of the 6 acknowledged Swasta [held by private organizers] Tournaments in 2008 that will produce PBSI ranking points for the INA players... ;) The others include Ratih Open, Astec Open, Solo Cup, Gorontalo Cup, and Bulungan Cup.

The winner of the Dewasa [any age can compete] category will collect around 1500 points [if I'm not mistaken]. Slightly lower than the 1700 points they get if they win a PBSI National Circuit event.

Note: in case you ever wonder why they pick 1700 PBSI points for winning the Dewasa category in a PBSI National Circuit... that's because PBSI considers winning one is equal to winning one BWF Future Series [1700 BWF points]... ;) I'm serious.
