Men's Singles R16 Simon Santoso [8] vs Dicky Palyama -- another Semi-Final finish should be within reach for Simon. Ronald Susilo vs Alamsyah Yunus -- Alam has the best result among the second-stringers this year. However, I think Ronald is still superior. Joachim Persson vs Sony Dwi Kuncoro [4] -- Sony should also reach at least SF. Women's Singles R16 Maria Kristin Yulianti vs Yao Jie -- Maria is the sole INA survivor in WS. Yao Jie will be a tough opponent for her. Men's Doubles R16 Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan [1] vs Chan Chong Ming/Chew Choon Eng -- another tricky test for the World Champion. But, without the top guns participating, they are expected to win the title. Tony Gunawan/Candra Wijaya [5] vs Rizky Yanu Kresnayadi/Albert Saputra -- this will be a valuable training for the young Djarum pair against the former Olympic Gold-Medallist. Kwon Yi Goo/Ko Sung Hyun vs Luluk Hadiyanto/Alvent Yulianto [3] -- a repeat of last week's match and Luluk/Alvent should prevail yet again. Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan vs Syahmie Syarif Radhitian/Adi Chrisna Wijaya -- a good draw for Bona/Ahsan this week. Women's Doubles R16 Wei Yili/Zhang Yawen [1] vs Lita Nurlita/Nitya Krishinda -- the Chinese pair to progress. Jo Novita/Greysia Polii [7] vs Rani Mundiasti/Endang Nursugianti -- Jo/Grace for yet another QF finish. Vita Marissa/Lilyana Natsir [4] vs Nicole Grether/Charmaine Reid -- a breeze for Vita/Butet. Meiliana Jauhari/Shendy Puspa Irawati vs Kumigo Ogura/Reiko Shiota [2] -- a tough match for the Djarum pair...just treat this one as a valuable sparring experience. Mixed Doubles R16 Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir [1] vs David Lindley/Suzanne Rayappan -- always tricky against the upcoming ENG pair. It could be another rubber-set victory. Mohd Rijal/Greysia Polii vs Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa [3] -- team order or not, Flandy/Vita should prevail. Fran Kurniawan/Shendy Puspa Irawati -- again, the luck of the draw means that Fran/Shendy get a free ride to QF. Devin Lahardi/Lita Nurlita vs Zheng Bo/Gao Ling [2] -- the Chinese pair to win.
Maria didn't play well against Pia Hopefully she will play like last year, didn't play well in day-1 but beat Lu Lan in 2nd day So far performance on 2nd layers INA's Singles were dissapointed. INA's future in WS and MS so blur In WS we hope only Maria Febe who have much progress compared last year performance. She played well against Fu Mingtian & Pi Hongyan. She lost to Pi after leading 20-18 in final set, too much long shot in critical points. Pi gave applause to Febe after the winning. In MS, We didn't find who are INA's MS hope in the future. When we search in U-19 or U-16 also didn't find yet. Hopefully PBSI will take attention more to search new talent rather than take care only to the big names.
Certainly players like Tommy and Andre disappointed big time. Have they regressed so much over the last couple of months? To think they were fighting for that 4th MS spot just a month ago. As for the WS, they were pretty much obliterated. Not encouraging at all.
Yeah, looking forward Simon and Sony to secure semifinal places and possible scenario they will face two faves of this tourney, Peter Gade and BCL respectively.
Yes, when LD, CJ and LCW not playing, only few men can stop BCL. Lets not forget Gade who is still playing and advancing in this IO
From what I observe, Bao definitely is the most popular player in the INA SS... When he peeked from the player's area to view what's going on in the stadium, the female teenagers already screamed. When he entered the main court, they went hysterical, like screaming at a rock star! Hau-ge, fabcargo, and I had to shout for Roslin just to balance the support-base... *a very risky move because the 500+ female teenagers [ABG] could possibly kill us*
Why would anyone cheer for Roslin in that situation? First of all, watching Roslin getting his butt kicked by Bao... entertaining watching 500 teenage girls beating the heck out of 3 dudes... priceless.
Pi made many errors yesterday. Febe's job was to just jump here and there to retrieve Pi's shots. Other than that, Pi for the most part controlled the game. But yeah, Febe is a contender for the INA WS team in the future... Febe just recovered from an illness [thought to be a career-ending cancer, but turned out to be not so]. I like her fighting spirit, though...
I hope Ronald gives a good account of himself at the IO. He should be able to handle Alamsyah this round
I think today we shall see 1000+ Bao fans... They will arrive by 8:10pm when Bao plays... Is abedeng going to be in Jakarta yet? We need more cheers for Nguyen today... Maybe tommy_bun can help us counter the ferocious pro-Bao cheer... We will shout "Nguyen!"... Just for fun... Anyway, I like the fact that Bao has such a crowd-puller appeal. It is good for badminton...
