I am still hopeful that the INA Uber Cup Team can reach at least SF yet again.

INA will be pitted against DEN in the Group Stage and we should have a reasonable chance of beating DEN if we take two points in both Doubles and a single point or two in the Singles.

INA Thomas Cup Team will be hoping to avoid KOR in the QF  But even if KOR is drawn against INA and assuming we lost both doubles, we still have a good chance in all the Singles as long as Taufik Hidayat is in form and makes sure he beat Park Sung Hwan.

INA has more than a reasonable chance to beat Denmark and have a better draw to qualify to Uber Semifinals.

As for Thomas Cup, if INA does meet KOR, might be worthwhile to split the doubles combination.

Ina's UC can steal both double and took 1 of point from 2nd or 3rd singles from Den squad...

as for TC, apart from Kido/Hendra, I'm not sure the scratch pair can be reliable based on recent BAC....

Ina had 0% chance to win Uber Cup and that also true to all others Uber Cup teams. China is too strong. Even if you can beat their first WS (If Tine can win over WYH), CHina will win another 4 points from the doubles and 2 singles.

Even if you combine all the best WS and the best WD in one team, China still can beat that team 5-0.

The best example: Saina one of the top WS in the world just lost to Li Xue RUei in Asian Badminton Championship, And LXR probably only number 10 in CHina squad. Zhou Mi also lost to Liu Xin. (Another new face from China)

    For Thomas Cup:

China still had the best chance to win Thomas Cup. Then Denmark. Then Indonesia and then Malaysia.

China had very strong three singles. Strong first double and even GZD/XC now had become quite strong too.

Denmark had very strong two MD but only one MS. But you cannot count out Jorgensen and Persson.

Indonesia had also strong 3 singles. Sadly, in team event Sonny and Simon mental not that good if they face with "had to win" matches. And so far we only had one very strong MD to give us one point. Second double is questionable.

Malaysia had very strong LCW and only one MD. Although Hafiz and WCH can win against lots of other team, but I wonder if they can win against Indonesia and CHina second and third singles.

Last Korea had a good but not very good MS and only one strong MD.

    Novita Jo ? Vita Marissa ? :crying::confused:

In UC it will be hard, but I agree that in TC Ina might be the second or third more strong team with China and Denmark.... If Taufik can be consistent (what a desapointing ABC) and Kido/Setiawan Are in good form..

Jo Novita has retired, Vita Marissa refused to join with UC Team. However, eventough without Vita, INA still has little chance to win or go to final UC. The composition of WS give the advantage for INA. Sacrifice 1 WS, INA can steal pints from 2nd WS, 2 WD, and 3rd WS.

Although INA Thomas Cup team has a very balanced squad, the players have to stand up and be counted. No more mid-game reduction of effort from Taufik, for example (as in Asia Championships). Simon must no longer have a crisis of confidence. And INA MD must show why they are considered the pioneers in the MD game.

The chance is there, with China not quite as dominant.

As for UC team, they should at least be able to justify their seeding, with some difficulty.

    prediction

I think your prediction is wrong for Indonesia vs china MD 2, Indonesia's MD 2 Alven/Hendra is quite reliable as they are world number 6 (ranked higher than China's CY/FHF ) did well in this year's tournament(MAS open). They are capable of winning a point against CHI.

Okay thanks, i didn't know about Novita's retirement.
Definitively, the ina's chances to win UC are around 10~15%...

Nova/Ahsan beat Alvent/Hendra... I think Nova/Ahsan should be 2nd MD. Don't think Alvent/Hendra can perform well on the big stage.

Uber Cup, almost no chance whatsoever. Thomas Cup - although China are the most likely, I think any of China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Denmark, Korea could possibly win if all goes well for them. China's MS makes them clear favourites, but anything can happen (and it's about time it did, don't you think?). China's had it their way in team competition for quite a while now. If they can be taken down in anything, it's TC though. The MD matches are crucial of course. Lose even one MD and the chances of winning the tie go waaay down.

By the way, I think Sony can beat Chen Jin (not would, but could).

Nova/Ahsan should play in the first one or two opening group matches, and if they play well then they can play in the later stages. Also another alternative is to swap around between all 4 of them and get more idea which pair is the strongest. I think Nova is the better player among them, so its just a matter finding the best partner for him.

Among Nova/Ahsan/Alvent/Hendra IMO yes Nova is the better player. He's probably the oldest but packed with experience needed for big games.
