Got it a few days ago and finally had a session with it yesterday. 4UG5, Exbolt 63 @28x30 with cushion wrap and AC148. With everything on, the total weight is 88.6g, head weight is 42.3g, balance point is 306mm (!!!). Anti vibration is great. No clicking sound on mine. Not a fan of the pink color scheme, I'll be waiting for the teal color racket next month ~ There are so many reviews on the original 100X already, so I won't go over them anymore, and let's just say this 100X Ultra is a much more offensive version of the original 100X. Much stiffer, slightly faster, and much more power, it's definitely much better at drives and smashes especially quick smashes. Whether it's an upgrade or not, it's up to your play style. Edit: this is the Hangzhou World Tour Finals version, so it's pink instead of teal for the regular version which will be released next month. Aside from the color scheme and of course the price (got it for CNY1700, regular version should be around CNY1100 upon release), everything else is identical.
Hi are you able to get this in any store? I have some family In China right now but they are in shenzhen and I was wondering if they would be able to purchase it
Most if not all licensed Victor shops have this racket, especially in a major city like Shenzhen, but not in large quantity. And as with all the newest releases, many shops have sold out this racket already and you may need to book in advance. I think you can still get it fairly easy though, it's not that rare and the price is too high for a Victor racket in China. Many people are hesitating to buy it this early. Most Victor rackets are priced under RMB1000 and this is being sold for RMB1600-1800, mainly because of the popularity of the original 100X + the hype of the Ultra shaft.
Your review makes me more excited to get one and try immediately, compare with the Panda version that I have (consider it as Gen 1.5 as it feels a bit different thant the usual). The price though.... ouch.
Interesting that it's head heavier but also faster than the original one. Sounds like overall this one is a much better version. I'm waiting for more updates from you on the performance. Thanks for sharing.
Is there any equivalent you could compare it to stiffness wise? I.e. z-force 2? 88dp 2nd gen? Nf800? curious how stiff much stiffer actually is as I feel like the stiffness on current 100x is perfect for me and prob can’t handle much more but my obsession over this racket makes me want to try the ultra….
The Panda 100X is one of my all time favorites too! So far it's just selling out fast during the first 2-3 days, these days there are more and more stock so I think prices will get down and stay stable at normal Victor prices after a few weeks. Especially the 12/12 sale is coming next week in China, more stock more buyers more sellers so expecting lower global prices too. I have played with it for 2 more sessions since last time I posted. I think for me personally this one is a much better version for offense, defensive wise I'm not sure. Better smashes and drives for sure, I'm still adjusting to drop shots and net play. Overall it just feels like a big improvement over the original 100X, which is not easy I imagine. I'm even using this racket to play singles now, with huge confidence and decent results! I don't have a stiffness measuring machine. Just basing on the stifness I feel when actually using it to play, it's stiff but I think it's not quite on the stiffness level of ZF2. I'm not sure how to compare it to 88DP, because the shaft is much thinner and the weight distribution is not similar, but yeah NF800 is pretty close.
I'm using nf800pro right now, can you do a quick comparison between these 2? or maybe something close say nf700 pro, nf1000z(not so close, I know) the old nf800
I'm a fan of the 800 Pro (super balanced racket that is excellent at both offense and defense), also have been using the 700 Pro since its release (it's a fine racket but there is nothing super special about it), and not a fan of the 1000Z (weird hitting feel, still haven't got used to it after a year). With all that said, I don't think the 100X Ultra is very similar to any of them, but if I have to choose then the 800 Pro is the closest to it, in terms of stiffness, frame size, swing weight and speed, hitting feels etc. 100X Ultra is slightly better at offense (especially for quick smashes) and slightly worse at defense (especially for long lifts). Clears and drives and drop shots and netplay are pretty even. I have a very similar success at all kinds of shots with these two rackets. All in all I think if you like the 800 Pro, this would be a nice purchase. Not very similiar rackets, but somehow I feel 800 Pro users would transition to 100X Ultra well, at least from my own experience. It's not as stiff as HS Plus, maybe 2 levels of stiffness below. Smashes are not as heavy but slightly faster, perhaps due to my lack of techniques. Drives are also not as good as HS Plus, but still in the "great" category. Almost every other aspect I would prefer the 100X Ultra. It's just a lot less taxing on stamina to play while still producing similar or better results compared to HS Plus.
Had a session with the 100x ultra this week and there seems to be a disconnect between the head heaviness and the shaft due to lack of stability/ stiffness. Reminded me a lot of the Yonex Nextage, but not as bad. It's a decent racket but avoid if you have a short compact action because the shaft isn't as stable. Suffers for fast flat rally style doubles. Easier access to power than the original 100x, but the original is more direct, whereas this one is more whippy.
i just tried my friend's 100x ultra at club night, i completely agree with your thoughts on the shaft stability. Bigger swings result in a lot of twist in the shaft and it feels really unstable. Seems like a symptom of the 5.8 shaft because I felt the same feeling with the TKF Ultra. drives and net shots were great, but anything that requires a big swing just feels too unstable to be sure of.
I tried a TKF U just the other week. I don't know if I have EVER played with such an unstable racket. Such a weird feeling. Every square swing felt like a slice. So much movement....
Yup, I don't get Victor's logic with putting such a thin shaft on rackets in the thruster series or with such a heavy head on the 100x ultra. Would prob work better with their speed rackets. I feel it's an improvement over the tkf ultra but still needs work.
I just had a few games with the racket. It feels.... odd. Smashes and clears were amazing, but drives and drops is kinda lacking. And it vibrates. A lot. Maybe due to my string stiffness (26lbs Exbolt 65), or probably the Freecore + one PU grip setup? The vibration kinda makes me feel uneasy at times, resulting in mishits at times....
Seeing so many negative reviews of the 100X Ultra, I'm starting to doubt myself hahaha ~ Perhaps it is due to my lack of technical skills or something, like I said whether it's an upgrade over the original 100X or not, it's up to your play style and/or personal techniques, the fact is I'm liking this 100X Ultra a lot. It just offers a lot more power and can be used for singles with very decent results now.
