    Hi

I can't seem to win a point in competitive doubles with my smash. I rely on my partner to finish points off. While setting up my partner for a smash work well, I can't hit a power smash or even a effective netkill without them returning it. One coach told me I tend to slice the shuttle about i think i fixed it and still my smashes are returned. Most players I play with have a strong power smash with "boom" sound with hitting. I am seeking help on specific tips such as footwork and strength training as well as agility and speed on court from great players like you.

    Thanks :)

make sure you do a good take back, elbow tucked back, non racket arm up, wrist snap during contact at highest point, your body should arch like a bow, that 3 thing is important for heavy smashes, wrist snap, take back, and arch like a bow

do finger, wrist and forearm training at home using bottle filled with water or sand, or dumbbells to develop the muscles power

This will take a lot of effort but a video of your game up on YouTube is a massive help to obtain good feedback specific to your situation.

Are you using plastic or feather shuttles?

Thanks for listing 3 specific steps! I will try to implement these steps when I'm on court. I have dumbells at home, do you know how many sets or reps I should do?

Here, copy this guy and you'll smash holes in your opponents. :) Start at 16:00.

Thanks so much! This looks great. I just need a good image of how to grip the racket for a smash. Is it just a simple v grip?

Yep, find somewhere comfortable for you in between panhandle and backhand... as long as you're striking it square and not slicing.

How do I avoid slicing it every smash. Any tips to adjust racket before swing?

For me, I will always make sure that my racket is always pointing slightly downwards at the shuttle. I do a few half smashes to ensure that I am doing it correctly and adjust. If it's correct, then I will go for full powered ones.
