After his first round loss against Wong Wing Ki @ Asian Games

We fall, so we can pick ourselves up again. Not happy with my performance but I promise to return stronger and bring pride to our nation once again. Thank you all for supporting me. pic.twitter.com/cB6PVCIkFr

What is the main reason for his decline? he never regain his early 2017 form up until now.
Is it injury, or the departure of Mulyo Handoyo affect his performance?

Mulyo Handoyo's departure has affected the entire singles department. They are in transition now as they learn to train without him.

It will be KS biggest win of his career if he triumphs today.

I don't rate that as biggest win . But i rather rate win over Lindan and LCW as biggest win.
Don't know why hate Kento Momota so much..;). May be because of Ultra fan club of him (singing songs of him all over his thread).

On the side note, he still not in his last year form. He struggled to beat Supanyu (?)!.

Beating an in form KM is better than beating an over the hill LD or LCW.

Did not know that Milyo had left, why? Srikanth decline maybe due to him being gone.

Other Indian coaching team are not that high caliber as Milyo.

Mulyo Handoyo's family members didn't want to stay in India, they used to visit him. More money from Singapore was an added incentive to leave.
If Mulyo had waited till 2020 he could have had many famous victories to add to his resume.

It was a sudden departure and the timing 6 months before Asian Games, WC, Thomas Cup, 2 years before Olympics was unfortunate for India. Some can say it was unprofessional on Mulyo's part to leave without any notice. Coaches normally give 1-3 months notice before breaking a contract.

Hasn't it been a long time ever since handoyo left the Indian squad for Singapore? Why couldn't BAI find another good foreign coach as his replacement is beyond my thinking. I am sure there's no scarcity of good coaches around the world. Men's singles has suffered the most ever since he has left which is quite visible in the performance's of top players, women's singles is still in a healthy condition but who's going to fill in the shoes of Saina Nehwal once she is gone? Doubles players have always underperformed except reddy/shetty who are quite young but what about others, specially Sikki and ashwini, they haven't yet been able to reach a decent level as a pair to be honest and I don't see any other immediate women's doubles pair doing better then they are in near future.

adjusting to india as a place to live is not easy. nor is working with the current way bai runs things.

think about where these coaches might come from. can bai pay someone enough to make life easy relative to what they are giving up in their home country?

Many indonesian coaches have been living in India for ages without any complaints. They have already adjusted to conditions here. Dont say that Indonesia's conditions are better. I know which one is better.
I don't know why people start to talk about Mulyo's departure was the root cause of decline of Men singles department.

He is good. But that does not mean life is over. Even Indonesia's PBSI even did not care about him to drag him in as a coach. Mulyo broke the contract without giving notice time. That itself a great blunder from his side.

Malaysian coach Tan Kim Her is the head coach of doubles.
Indonesian coach Dwi Kristiawan assists with doubles and singles.

Indonesian coach Atiq Jauhari is based in Bangalore and assists in doubles at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy.
Indonesian coach Edwin Eriawan is based in Assam as head coach, he used to be in charge of doubles in India.

The majority of coaches have always been from Indonesia. India prefers Indonesian singles coaches as the style of play is similar.
