Kevin's current BWF ranking is 28. I hope to see him go more regularly into the quarter and semi finals stages of SS tournaments that he participates in. He needs to stitch together a good run of tournaments to boost his confidence level in the run-up to the OG. It would be great to se him shine there. And anywhere else, as well!
the problem with this guy is he is not that consistent...he can peak at big tournaments (OG, WC) and beat some good players and then end up losing to inferior players in small tournaments
Where is KC these days? Dont see him participating in any superseries event after the world championship event.
Don't think we well see him much, probably no govt funding/support to fly/play in Opens, how he pay for coaching? via donation, sponsorships in Guatemala, soccer players have better luck there..OLY12 may be out, too bad.
He won the game against Chen Long in the first round of WC, but otherwise I'm not aware if he's ever peaked in any big tournaments or beaten any top players.
He will be at the OG12, continental representation pretty much guarantees him a spot even of he was #60 in the world...

Kevin Cordon is currently at the Thailand Open GPG; he has been struggling of late, and is on the verge of being eliminated in round 1 at the Thai Open. His BWF ranking has slipped as well, down to 33. I hope he finds his mojo soon, and comes charged up for the LOG. Here's wishing you well, Kevin!!!
Kevin Cordon is a promising player with potential to develop much further. I understand he trains in Europe, which part, Spain,Madrid? Most likely he's constrained by lack of resources and sponsorship, most of all a quality coach to bring out the best in him. He has the right attitude, very positive, hardworking and willing to strive. I'm suddenly reminded of another newly discovered player with potential but hampered by similar constraints - remember the Sri Lankan Niluka Karunaratne who sensationally knocked out K Tago in the London Olympics? Such a pity. If only there's a sponsorship programme to help Niluka and Kevin make it in their badminton career.
^^ I'm not sure Kevin is still training in Spain, he had been training there, but I hadn't heard much about his training situation recently. Sure sponsorship holds him back, he has the talent, let's see if he can take it further. Niluka is/was living in Denmark up until the Olympics I believe, at least that's what I remember. Niluka has many brothers who also play but he takes it the most seriously, in fact he was unbeaten in Sri Lanka for over 5 years, probably still unbeaten!
Kevin Cordon is playing in the final of the Pan-American Games tomorrow, in Toronto. Glad to hear that he's still about. Such an likeable emotional player. In the Gold Medal match Kevin is facing Andrew D'Souza of Canada. Having a Canadian in the final means that the national broadcaster might actually televise five seconds of badminton --between all the beach nudeyball and synchronized horse rollerblading. Surely there must be BC'ers who will be attending.
