Poor boy CHO Geonyeop. Talented player from Korea. Yesterday he played 1h 38min against Jason Gunawan. Today lost to WANG Zheng Xing from China 21-9,15-21,10-21. I have hardly seen WZX playing before.
Also Miyazaki lost badly to another Chinese player I have never heard of, Qianxi Han (born 2002, WR 185). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This is Korean Masters. But felt like Taiwan Masters! I counted they sent a whopping 93 players MS WS MD MD XD outnumbered the host participants!!! Madness!
She played in WJC together with Tan Ning. Reached !/4 finals in Girl's singles iirc. After that Covid struck and and Chinese youngsters, hardly played in any tournament untill 2022
You got me curious and looking up past results, and Han Qianxi was AJC silver medalist in 2019. Just for interest, the 2019 AJC winner (also 2019 WJC silver ) was Zhou Meng who is now doing post grad studies in England.
No wonder I haven't heard of Zhou Meng since the WJC 2019 ended. Chen Yifei went to Melbourne for a 10 week English course after Paris 2024. She will probably return to competition soon.
I only watched the last few points WZX - Kunlavut. WZX kept lifting high, when not forced, and Kunlavut jump smashed from the middle of the court
Guys, atleast some responses for korea masters. Last week, I opened a thread for super 300 tournament. Only 3 posts including 2 of mine. So, thought of not opening threads for super300 level tournaments. What Kunlavut is doing here in super300. Does he want to prove anything . He is blocking chances of many upcoming and B grade players . Just kidding
No I don' think. Felt like there were 2 more Malaysian pairs above Aaron/Soh in the WTF ranking. So they are all neck-to-neck chasing for qualification. I think the same for Kunlavut as well. These guys are waiting it late for qualification, so they need to rake in as many points as possible.
Sweet win for Wardani. She was down 15-20 in the third set in QF and saved 7 match points. Now champion! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Wardani (KW) has a sweet comeback in the second half of the year. Semifinalist at Denmark Open and now champion of Korea Masters. I hope she continues this momentum!
And they are talented too, as the seeded players. There is an influx of talented Taiwan badminton players compete in Super 300 tournaments this year. Same thing with Macau Open and Vietnam Open. Are they self-funded or funded by Chinese Taipei Badminton Association?
Would it be possible to open a thread of World Tour Finals early? It's kind of juicy to discuss some elite players competing in Super 300 series to accumulate more points. Also, the possibility of multiple Olympic champions (automatic qualifier) not participating: Men's doubles: Lee Yang/Wang Chi-lin. Lee Yang has retired. Women's doubles Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan. Jia Yifan has a new double partner. How about Chen Qingchen? Mixed doubles Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong. Has not competed after Olympics.
Not sure are these TPE players independent or national players. They are everywhere in almost every second-tiers tournaments. And yes, these are quality players!
Struggling even to qualify according to this article. Certainly it doesn’t look good for BAM if their no. 1 pair can’t qualify over independent pairs. https://www.nst.com.my/sports/badmi...on-wooi-yik-chase-history-korea-masters-final
