aikes.... Batu Caves is famous for the Thaipusam festival(Indian community) in Malaysia. you must go to visit during the festival...! hmmm...... from PJ sea park huh?? SS14? SS2? which road? i go take some photos for you to relief the homesick....
Jalan Chantek, the beautiful road Thanks drifit, It's Section 5 of PJ. Please take photos of Jalan Chantek, the beautiful road. My school was La Salle PJ and from the shops at the start of Jalan Chantek, I used to buy shuttlecocks for our school Badminton. Cheers... chris@ccc
Selayang? Kepong? Bt Caves? Setapak? Jalan Ipoh? Jinjang? however, dont forget to feed the monkeys daily, will have good karma...
Sure.. ..yeah, too bad i wasn't able to actually visit the Twin Petronas Towers. Perhaps next time, as i'd like to visit other outlying tourist areas as well(ie. Genting, couple coastal places).. ..thanks for your compliment..Actually it's nothing much in comparison to Loh's, who has the luxury of living in S'pore also, wonderful writeups of his hometown. I guess i'm inspired from his writings.. Yeah, it was a labor going up:crying:..Yeah, "awesome" stamina, heh So, if you add up all the total time, altogether, it will be more than 1 hr=15 min.(up) + 10 min.(break, while panting and nearly fainted, not with all the humidity and hot temp.) + 30 min. rest @ top + 15 min.(raced down, no break as the driver/guide was nearly upset, i can clearly tell with the look on his face, as he was waiting for me below.).. ..you should've told me that you are from PJ, chris@ccc.. ...oh no, not me...i'll just walk up the stairs & take my time..:crying:
The pictures of PJ at sea park is where my church is at.However, we have moved.. Now i am really missing home..
Nice Pictures, ctjcad Thanks for the pictures. Never been to Batu cave & Selangor Pewter Factory before. I used to pass by Batu cave many times when I played Badminton at Kepong (few KMs from Batu cave) 5 years ago. How much the peacock cost? any badminton collectible? or any 'fung sui' collections there. Might pay a visit there (the one in setapak), maybe after a game at KLRC. Rgds SCANN
During my last visit to KL for the recent WC, I also visited the KL Tower for the first time to get a panoramic view of the city and a little beyond. We went on foot via the patch of forest reserve adjacent to the car park set just outside the main road. Hcyong was kind enough to drive both spchu and myself for that short excursion before we proceeded to Bt Jalil for the live matches. KL Tower is a good visual introduction to the landscape and skyscrapers of KL and the Klang Valley. Just like the tower in Melbourne.
that time, the weather is quite bad. haze haze haze everywhere...... not so good view, i guess, blurry view.....
A few of us visited PJ to have breakfast in one of the bigger coffee shops during the WC. PJ seems to be special in that it has its own identity and is differentiated from some of the other housing estates by its 'welcome arch' and specially decorated pavements, etc and greenery. I hope I can show some pics later.
Hmm, i wish i remember.. ..the price of that tin-made-peacock, scann..I know it's quite pricey though. In general, the souvenier items in the shop are quite pricey. I don't recall them selling any "feng shui" nor any badminton collections though. Actually, i saw a Royal Selangor pewter shop in one of the local malls there (don't recall where) and they sell the same kind of items.
Bicycles are no longer common in PJ Hey Loh, Thank you for your photos of PJ. Yes, PJ has its own decorated pavements, arches, parks, etc... This is because PJ was built as a residential town for the capital, KL. One thing I found from your photos is that bicycles are no longer common in PJ. That's a pity... Why do we need to drive our cars for short distances, when we can bicycle and have some exercise ? Years ago, I used to bicycle through many of the places in your photos... even to go to watch movies at the STATE cinema. Cheers... chris@ccc
You can only see bicycles in Gated Communities and Kampung area. You will not see any cycles around in the city area like PJ. Maybe once in a while you can catch an Indian Putu-Mayam seller riding his bike selling the food.
To revive cycling to be popular again Hey ants, You have reminded me how long ago I used to cycle around PJ. Yes, time flies, but I still remember PJ with great fondness that memories of yesterdays are still so fresh in my mind. BTW, when I first came to Melbourne, bicycles were hardly seen... but today, there is a trend towards the usage of bicycles again. Perhaps, one day I will invite you to cycle with me around PJ... to bring cycling popular again in PJ. And we can catch up with Indian Putu-Mayam sellers to taste their goodies. Cheers... chris@ccc
Off topic-Hah.. ..haha, sounds like you are indeed were sleepy, tohcsh...as you, probably, posted in the wrong thread as well (you might've meant to post in the 2007 French Open thread instead??)...hehe
