I would like to invite players of all levels to come play Badminton at L'Amoreaux Badminton club. We are located at Warden and Finch in the L'Amoreaux Collegiate Institute Highschool. If you like more information you can visit this webpage for details. http://lambadminton.blogspot.ca/ We have six courts and play on Monday, Thursday and Friday from 7pm-10pm. We play with nylon shuttlecocks which is included in the membership price. If you are interested we invite you to come as a guest($10 guest fee/visit) up to 2 times before deciding to join our club or not. If you decide to join the guest fee will be deducted from the membership fee of $180/year. Our club operates from September till June.
Hi All, We are about to open for the new season. Details can be found on our new site: lambadminton.com
That's pretty steep for a nylon club. Most clubs are $5 drop-ins, $80 membership for a school gym. Do you have mats?
unfortunately the price is high in the Toronto district as the TDSB has raised the gym rental rates over 3 times the amt over the last several years. Yes I know that rentals outside of Toronto are cheaper and we are continually looking for options for a cheaper location. there are no mats. Our club provides the nylon birds, setup games usually 13 mins rounds and setup the games to make as many even games as possible across all 4 courts. We also run several tournaments a year with prizes and discounted year end lunch. 3 hrs a night on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays (with some exceptions for school functions). Previously when the rental rates were reasonable, we only charged $65 a year but as TDSB increase prices, we must also increase our membership fee.
Hi there, Just wondering if there is still drop in on Monday? I'm thinking of visiting tomorrow. Thank you! Garry
How much is the membership fee, and how often do you guys meet? What's also the average level of players?
Hi Nlesol, Our site has all the details HERE. We are actually finishing up our season this Friday May 31st. The cost is $195 for the year but right now its free to drop in this Thurs and Friday to get an idea of our setup. We have a wide range of intermediate and advanced players but it would depend on who comes out for that particular night. We meet Monday, Thursday and Fridays, 7-10pm unless advised in advanced in our schedule/calendar. We will resume play in the fall to start our 2019/2020 season in Sept (date TBA).
Are there any segregation between beginners/intermediate/advanced players? I'd imagine that if beginners play with advanced, it won't be fun for either..
Sorry for the delay in response. The details are in the club website. The organizers will setup the games for 13 min rounds it depends on who is there. We do our best to first: 1. Have fair/fun games across all our available courts 2. Try to mix up games so that the same players are not playing the same game all night 3. Try to mix up which courts players play on so that they don't always play on same as some courts may have better lighting or less obstacles (like basketball nets), etc.. 4. Just to make sure we have fairness, we would try to rotate who plays with the beginners. 5. Finally we only have 2 beginners in our club of 70+ members and they don't come out every night so there isn't that much chance for members to play with beginners a lot. If you do have to play with a beginner while you are an advanced player, it would likely only be the one and only time you play with them that night.
Does L’Amoreaux Badminton Club still exist? Their website is filled with non badminton stuff. Thanks!
Thanks for the heads up. somehow one of the exec's account was hacked and someone was posting on on our site.. no one has really played or updated site since the start of Covid.. hope we find a cure soon so we can all get back to playing what we love.. without too many restrictions at lease..
Sorry to report that we are currently not open post Covid and will be looking for opportunities to get a permit within Toronto/York region to reopen the club.
