Lee Yong Dae will partner Ha Jung Eun for the 2012 Olympics

imo, hje good as she is, should give up wd if she is to succeed with lyd
.
I believe KOR coaches are thinking the same too. :):):)

Let's wait and see.

In the next month or 2, I believe HJE will be participating in just the XD event (although LYD will still be involved in both the MD and XD).

Just checked the TS seed list for upcoming Maybank MO... HJE is only playing WD, not XD! And LYD is only playing MD, no XD! :p

Looks like they're giving their partnership a break...

^^
D'oh! She's not seeded with LYD, so they're not on the list, but they are playing 2 events each again at the MO! :eek:

Congratulations to Lee Yong Dae/Ha Jung Eun

Coach Sung Han-kuk must be very happy that Lee Yong Dae/Ha Jung Eun have made it into the Semi-Finals of the 2012 Korea Open SSP. Here are their results;

Let's wait and see. :):):)

Great match. But his MD was even better :D Lots of ohhs and ahhs :)
Could've hit myself - I walked past him several times, but didn't have anything at all for him to sign :/
Next year, I'll be prepared. I hope somebody recorded one of those matches of him.
The umpiring in the mixed was ridiculous, by the way - the umpire wouldn't allow any players to towel down, not even after Sato had basically mopped half the court. When all 4 went for a towel-down anyway, Matsuo Shizuka got a yellow card.....some umpires still live in the 80s.

I noticed that LYD and HJE rarely talk to each other during KO semi-final match, especially during 1st game, they probably didn't speak to each other at all, just something strange I would say. Do they not like each other off the court?? just wondering... It's rarely to see doubles players don't communicate during matches. Maybe they're both too tired to think stuff to discuss, it's tough to play 2 matches a day and keeping up with the intensity at all times.

I have no idea. They talked a little at the GO semis, but it doesn't seem like they have a friendly relationship - rather a professional one. Or they're so used to each other (they played as kids) that they don't need to talk ;)
The tiredness is probably not the reason. When you play intensely like that, your body can start to get tired and ache, but in a match, you're 100% awake.
That being said, they didn't look like they were playing with their full intensity in yesterday's first game. Rather timid performance, kind of defensive, and LYD didn't smash very hard. Only at the end did you see their effort, but at 19-20 LYD decided to smash a half-court lift into the net :D
The next games were completely different, and super exiting. I hope he continues coming here every year!

what the heck is wrong with HJE's hair style? looks like she tripped and fell head first into a bucket of red paint!

I see you're exercising your right to be the BC hair critic again. :D

To me she always looks like she's sucked a lemon. Man, that's a sour looking face.

Lee Yong Dae will partner Ha Jung Eun for the 2012 Olympics

News just received;

Lee Yong-dae lands new partner
2011-03-22 19:02

Lee Yong-dae, South Korea’s reigning Olympic champion in mixed doubles badminton, will get a new partner in his title defense at the 2012 London Games, his coach said Tuesday.

“We’ve concluded that Lee Yong-dae and Ha Jung-eun will be the optimal mixed doubles team,” coach Sung Han-kuk said. “We made the call after three European tournaments this month.”

Lee, 22, won the Beijing Olympics gold medal with Lee Hyo-jung, a 30-year-old who announced her retirement from the national team after winning mixed doubles gold at the Guangzhou Asian Games last fall. She played with Shin Baek-cheol at the time.

With Lee Hyo-jung out of the picture, Sung and his coaches mulled over the best combination for Lee Yong-dae over the German Open, All-England Open and Swiss Open championships.

In Germany, Lee played with Kim Ha-na and lost in the quarterfinals. After skipping the mixed doubles in England, Lee teamed up with Ha in Switzerland and reached the semifinals, where they lost to a tough duo in three sets.

“(Lee and Ha) pushed the strong Danish team (of Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christina Pedersen) in the semis to three sets,” Sung said. “After taking into account these recent results, we felt (Lee and Ha) played well as a team.”

Ha, 23, had previously played with Lee at the 2005 Korea Open as a high school freshman. In Beijing, Lee Yong-dae provided stability while Lee Hyo-jung, slightly taller than her male partner at 181 centimeters, attacked the net with abandon. Coach Sung said Ha, listed at 173 centimeters, may not be as adept near the net as Lee Hyo-jung but has potential for improvement.

“Lee Yong-dae is the steady player and Ha will get better around the net,” the coach said. “He’s found a good match.”

Finally, we have arrived at the 2012 London Olympics. :):):)

On Sunday 29-July-2012, Lee Yong Dae/Ha Jung Eun will play their first match against Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir [3] of Indonesia.

This could be a very close match, and an interesting match to watch.
