I don't see how SYQ is going to match up in any of these categories tomorrow: speed, strength , stamina and skill. Perhaps patience or LZJ making silly mistakes.
Were you able to see how a rusty/not a 100% ready SYQ was able to easily outplay LZJ in all the categories? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well, I expected this to happen soon. LZJ was simply outclassed in the term of tactics and skill. Smashing alone will not help when the opponent is SYQ. Once again, 'long lifts' continued without mercy.
It was indeed patience on SYQ's part and mistakes from LZJ. SYQ said it in English as well at post match interview, patience that won the match.
At the start of G3, LZJ was not patient enough, leading to easy points for SYQ. Too many straight points in a row to recover.
LZJ remains erratic in his play, making too many mistakes, sometimes doing unesarrilly difficult shots, and phasing out of concentration during critical juncture of the match.
I still believe he will continue to improve himself and reduce his bad tendencies and peak at next Olympic to win Malaysia elusive first Gold ever.
Yes totally agree, his could just aim half a foot in and that would be good and if it is returned the follow up shots to finish it. Kills two birds... ie tired out the opponent and win the point.
Once again, LZJ's performance in court is just super inconsistent at this point. He missed easy shots and smashes a lot of points. I believe he needs more training, higher quality that is, at this point it is not working.
I feel like his game is not maturing at all, everything feels incoherent. Every time he lifts, either it goes: 1. Out 2. Too short 3. Out
Does he has enough variation in his sparring partners? Or it is just DL? He seems to do well against players that rely on power and fitness but not so well against players that use more skill and finesse plays. His shots are way predictable, even watching him play, often I could predict correctly what he would do next. Perhaps, acquiring some skills from TTY and LCW would help.
probably his hand too much energy, just like Lebron James, can shoot 3 pointers and half court shots, but cannot shoot free throws...
Couple of times..it looked like he was going to smash his racket. He's too hard on himself, too much self anger. He needs to resolve his internal demons before achieving any kind of consistency
I think he did toss the racket though after the loss. IMHO, his movements e.g. unnecessary body "contortion" to smash/drive may spell a disaster on the run (prone to muscle aches, straining body here & there). A couple of times witnessing may be for a giggle but when it gets repetitive, folks are going to laugh for the wrong reason. Asserting dominance & committing on the net/front is great but if it goes overboard, opponents will learn & counter that. How many times has he gotten push back from the front with a cross-court drive/punch clear (resulting points loss on failed retrieval, long lift/drive & punished)?
