Li-Ning SINGAPORE Open SS 2013 : Day 1 & 2 (18th & 19th June) - Qualifying & R/32

The real show starts tomorrow.

In MS, there is no LD, no LCW, no CL. In a way we will miss the traditional rivalry among them. We have to wait for the WC later.

But now the door is thrown wide open for especially the promising young aspirants who have yet tasted the sweetness of being a champion! But can they challenge the incumbent from Thailand, two-time winner Boonsak? Admittedly Boonsak has not been performing up to expectation recently even on home turf. But will he just give up his throne so easily in tomorrow's SO?

I think not so without a fight and hopefully Boonsak will regain his form to prove us wrong.

The scene in WS is quite different however. Many of the top ranked women players will be competing and the reigning champion amazon from Germany, who just thrilled us in the INA Open, is expected again to fight to the last. So we can look forward to some thrilling WS matches.

The other events are also adequately supported. Therefore we should expect a good Singapore Open! Hope to see you at the SIS from tomorrow or at least follow the proceedings online.

Ha ha.. Saina and LCW both are not in the same category at all(different gender) . Then how can i compare both of them.... First of all.. I have never compared both in anyways. Lol ;) .. Please correct me if i am wrong.. Have i compared anywhereelse in my previous posts about LCW's achievements to Saina's achievements.. ??

But you can't say either that Saina and LCW would be forgotten as a whole when they got retired.. If somebody says so, i have full rights to say that Saina will be remembered even after they got retired..

Note: Your interpretation is completely non-synch...I never ever compared both of them.. I just replied to a person who said that Saina and LCW will be out of everybody's mind once they both get retired..:)

Please refer to craigandy's post. And yes, you are wrong. You're welcome for the correction.

To your "note", I assume you are referring to yayachico here, please quote me the exact post and sentence where he said LCW will be forgotten once he retires. Not that it's any of my business, but I do hate to see people putting words in other's mouth.

The starting line wil see the most participants from:

MS : IND (7); JPN (5); MAS (5)); CHN (3); THA (3); HKG (3)

WS : JPN (5); THA (4); CHN (4); INA (4); IND (3)

In doubles the following countries lead the pack:

INA: MD (7 pairs); WD (5); XD (6);
JPN: MD (4); WD (5); XD (4);
KOR: MD (3); WD (3); XD (4);

Mighty CHN has only (2); (3) and (1) entries but we know they are the quality players not easily beaten.

THA has 4 in WD and SIN enters 4 pairs in XD mainly for the exposure. I guess.

MAS also has 4 pairs in MD and ENG is represented by 3 teams in XD.

On the whole JPN seems to be quite evenly represented.

In MD, if only CB/HW can survive their 1st match vs LYD/KSH, they may proceed far in upper half; will MA/HS continue their stellar performance here? In XD, TA/LN in upper half will have good chance to play in finals, projected against the lone pair ZN/ZYL. In WS, WD, CHN field the many first legions, if no big upset, the outcomes will be as scripted. MS will be the most interesting, who will grab the rare golden opportunity to lift the trophy with the absence of the living gods :D

btw AlanY tabulates the player composition by countries at http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php/128617-2013-SG-SS-Players-by-countries

Ws r32

Some interesting matches in WS R32:

1. NJ (THA) vs BM (INA)
2. BYJ (KOR) vs WSX (CHN)
3. ST (JPN) vs CM (SPA)
4. BO (THA) vs WYH (CHN)
5. PB (THA) vs EH (JPN)
6. GJ (SIN) vs SN (IND)

WSX, the BYJ's jinx

I just noticed that the H2H of WSX - BYJ is such one-sided affair: 8-0 in favor of WSX, with the two last encounters occurred in 2013, and all the 8 matches were settled in straight and no single game was done in deuce. For BYJ, the WSX must be her nightmare!

If Gu Juan can repeat her performance against Saina in the Thai GPG tomorrow, she would have a realistic chance of a semi-final appearance,hopefully.

As for Sun Yu, I hope she doesn't disappoint again with another one-round trip;anyway,even if she survives tomorrow, the next day waiting for her should be Soldier Schenk, a difficult hurdle to cross.

Unlucky for both CB/HW and LYD/KSH to meet each other in the very 1st round. However,the pair left standing may get a slightly easier path to the SF/F, it seems on paper, barring any upset along the way.

Too bad, no working livestream available. The one on bet365.com requires registration and a small bet, not for me.

You don't have to bet, just need to deposit a small amount of money. You can withdraw the money anytime.

Obviously though somewhat inexplicably, WSX is BYJ's nemesis, even now when WSX is no longer the same player as she was at least a year ago. The other notable example is Wang Xin's shutout of Tine Baun, 9-0 (or was it 10-0?).

Oh, thanks, I didn't know that, might consider then but providing personal particulars such as credit card nos. is another of my concern.:)

Lol I sound like a bet365 representative but they are highly reputable(A+ rating safe) with regards to that, unless it is some other way you are concerned about. The stream quality is pretty rubbish though.

Oh really this bad? Sorry I didn't do my research.

I think bet365 is ok.
i have put a small amount of money there about 4 years back. Since then, I have enjoyed a fair amount of badminton Live Streaming. :)

When Hong Wei gets the chance, he is really dominating the smash situations.

But LYD is dominating almost all the serve and serve return situations.
