fair point about the money well obviously if the swedish king would like to drive fast cars, and then i'll assume LYB likes to drive *exclusive* cars---no point us judging their respective choices *cough cough* ps. hope that "fast" is still within normal speed limits
Come on.. In all fairness how many X5 do you ever think leaves the comfy street ;-). BTW I saw a test of it on the motor-show top-gear where the X5 was left behind most of the other SUVs, and 4x4 offroaders ;-P IF X5 would have been a Rover in disguise.. that would say even more about the power of marketing ;-). I guess people like to pay premium for something they would laugh at if it was another logo on the hood ;-D My thoughts on "brand"-perception leads me to another interesting question... Do you think NS8000 racket would have sold as well if it would have been sold under the brand name of for example Kason :-D Oh my god.. Im going off-topic here doesn't I /Twobeer
under kason brand, likely no because I dont look into kason in the first place. However, if kason advertise and convince me with hard facts and data that a Kason NS8000 can outperform other model including yonex, yes, i would buy that kason ns8000.
i think the point is that LYB didn't buy the X5 for pure off-road performance....i mean he's not a racer..and the speed limits in china are sometimes slower than in the UK. the point is that he got it for "style" (debateable i know) "exclusiveness" and maybe he liked it or how it handles not becuase he wanted to buy the ultimate off-road performance 4x4 for the ns8000, i assume that u buy the racquet for its performance, not to look good so it would make sense to actually buy the ultimate in performance, and not just looks/brand.
Realisticlly, bmw and merc. suv's are quite similar in function and capability. They still lack power and brawn of REAL suv's like the gas sucking american SUVs that can at least move around a 300lb driver . Even toyota, lexus, infiniti, acura suv's perform better than bmw and merc suv, imo. Too bad LYB didnt opt for the a Porsche Cayenne, this baby can beat most other sporty cars.
hehe..the style gurus would be hitting him even harder if he had got that (mm personal opinion only tho, i suppose the porsche is way more sleeker than the bmw which is more of a macho angular design) then there are the "retro" designs like the merc G-class mmm so many cars so little time
There are a couple of small desert outside Beijing. I just wonder if LYB would bring his best players out for training in the sand . Imagine LYB driving the X5 following the huffing and paffing badders - he shouts "Add Gas to it".
918 is a famous no., cuz its the date that japan attacked china. i know lyb didnt mean it, but if i was him, i would put "888" there.
Lots leave the comfy streets. People have gravel driveways I think I saw that Top Gear test. Did they race the 4x4s pulling caravans on grass? I think they still had road tyres on the X5
