i know this news is too late, but it's very interesting to know it indra, ctjad... woud you mind translating the news below in english ? Translation.. OK, here's my translation version of the article from bolanews.. It's really nothing new, but IMO, it's more of a hindsight view..Hope any MAS fans won't find ire in reading this.. Malaysia busy finding "excuses" Being hyped to meet with China in the Final, Malaysia was defeated at the hands of Denmark. Malaysia also must eat its own words. Before going to Japan, they were quite optimistic in grabbing the Thomas Cup. The arrival of Malaysia's Thomas Cup team in Kuala Lumpur International airport, Monday May 8th, was also somber. Even, if one take a peek of numerous news in the local media, there are only hard criticisms for the team's members. From criticisms of the players' mentality, fighting spirit, to a request of big changes in the national training center. For a few days, Malaysia's no.1 newspaper, Utusan, had to prepare a special page to accommodate many opinions and expressions from its many badminton enthusiasts. Finding justification of Malaysia's failure is not an easy task. "People can accuse the single's player of not being enthusiastic and not being able to cope with pressure, but they have tried their best. So, refrain from accusing the player who has been pressured with their result in Tokyo" said singles coach, Misbun Sidek. True, Malaysia's singles players failed to deliver a point in the semifinal. Lee Chong Wei lost to Peter Gade, Hafiz Hashim lost to Kenneth Jonassen and Kuan Beng Hong lost to Joachim Persson. Without Wong Eventhough there's a strong reason for Malaysia, it's nothing more than the absent of Wong Choong Hann, who had to leave Tokyo after the the quarter final against Korea. His right achilles tendon injury while meeting against Park Sung Hwan brought disaster to Malaysia in the semifinal. As the team captain and their most experienced player, Wong's absent was felt by the whole team. Especially, with that fact, Hafiz, who is more known as an "individual" player, instead of a "team" player, must step up as the 2nd Men's single, in order to give a chance for a backup player in Kuan as the last Men's single. "Many have said that Wong was the factor in the failure. But, as the head coach, i can't say so. I feel that we have all the right formula to become champion, but the result on court says otherwise", said Yap Kim Hock. "I'm sure if we have defeated Denmark, Thomas Cup is within reach because we have a complete set of players", he added. "I see pressure being faced by our young player as the factor in the failure", he added. Not only the players, but Yap himself couldn't escape the criticisms of the many fans and observers. "The time given, 2 days after Wong left should be enough for coaches to come up with any strategy. The wisdom in the decision to send only 4 singles player showed we can not rely too much on them. Imagine, even China sent 5 singles players", added one observer, Lukman Salleh. Also added outside of those 4 players, Malaysia still has Lee Tsuen Seng and Roslin Haslim, who is also very experienced in Thomas Cup tournament. Other views also requested to have a big change within the players as well as singles coaches. Other players who were not considered to have the skill and "champion's mentality" should be replaced by younger players who have potential. But, those suggestions were quickly denied by BAM's President, Datuk Nadzmi Salleh. "There will be no changes. The current players will be kept until the World Championships in Madrid along with the Asian Games in Doha. Training new players will not be done with only a few months", he said with ire. Unfortunately badminton is a zero-sum game, with one winner at the expense of another. No such thing as a win-win for both cambatants because there is no such thing as a draw in the game. You win some, you lose some. When teams are evenly matched luck can also play a role. Blaming someone is just pointing the fingers to someone else but yourself. A better way is to learn from your defeat and redress the shortcomings.
sure, no problem..it's just a matter of having a bit of time to translate it..fortunately i found your post and had some time on that day..
mohon maaf jika 'menyinggung' hati para malaysia fans berita ini didapat dari para news - reporter bukan dari saya. maju terus indonesia dan malaysia. future dream tc final 2008 : malaysia vs indonesia
personally,i feel tat the malaysia team has tried their best n tat's good enough. our singles were a let-down in the semis(not able to get any points),but the doubles really displayed some good fighting spirit. china on the other hand was veri good, they white washed denmark 3-0... u win some,u lose some.
One small comment about the inaccuracy of the first patagraph: Being hyped to meet with China in the Final, Malaysia was defeated at the hands of Denmark. Malaysia also must eat its own words. Before going to Japan, they were quite optimistic in grabbing the Thomas Cup. The official version was as per Yap Kim Hock's statement: Malaysia's target is the semifinal.
the news probably blow it up to make it more interesting. but u have to admit,on paper, our chances r quite good.
I'm sick and tired of this blaming issues. Frankly..i said, look at the Team. We win as a team and lose as a team. Just admit that we lost to a better prepared team. Blaming will bring out alot of issues which i'm sure is not encouraging and productive to the Team as a whole. We have to support and encourage each other not blaming.
