Malaysian Open 2008 - Day 2 - Jan 16 - First Round

The first match this year to finish in 30-29....as Howard Bach/Eva Lee lost to the stubborn MAS young pair of Mohd Razif Abdul Latif/Chong Sook Chin 21-14, 18-21, 29-30. The US pair threw away 4-5 match pts and was leading 29-28, only to blow it. What a match!
 
Wow ! First sudden death of this tournament.

An exciting match, I would guess. The first ever match I followed live that ended 30-29. I've still yet to watch one with my own eyes.

To get to 30-29, both sides will have in total at least 12 game points. At 20-(less than 20), that's at least one game point. At 21-20 to 29-28, that's exactly 9 game points. And at 29-29, both sides have game points.

So, if the US pair blew 4-5 match points, the Malaysian pair must have blown even more. But the US pair blew the last 2 which must have hurt a lot.
