I don't know which one is the don. I know that, for myself, the MP 90 is the dog.

    :(

    G'day all,

I have both MP100 and MP90 and here are my thoughts on both rackets: (in a nutshell)

MP100 - Head heavy, very powerful, good control and good feel. Ideal for both singles and doubles, and ideally for player who plays a mainly offensive game.

MP90 - Balanced (when compared to MP100 & 77), highly manueverable, excellent control and feel, but not as powerful as MP100 or 77. Ideal for both singles and doubles player who plays a balanced game between offense and defense. Fastest swinging racket in the entire Muscle Power range. (even more so than MP88!)

So in saying which racket is the better one - it all depends on personal playing style! Don't get swept away by the hype - try it out before making a decision!

Note: Both rackets are strung with BG85 at 24x25lbs by same stringer.

ayl, Are you sure MP-90 is faster than MP-88? I love everything about my MP-88 3U, except I find it kind of flexible. I know MP-90 is much stiffer, but did not know it's faster than MP-88. If that's the case, I've got to get an MP-90 to play mixed doubles at net (I'd be broke then :))

    G'day Tammy,

Yes I tried out my friend's MP88 last night and to me it definately felt more head heavy than my MP90. I am not sure why but the racket was labelled as 4UG3 and it was definately heavier to swing than my MP90, 2UG4.

    I am wondering maybe because:

    1. The MP88 was an AUS version, with wrong labelling?
    2. My MP90 is a JP version. But it definately has the correct labels as I bought 3 off them (2 for other friends) and all 3 were identical.

I will try the MP88 out again this week, just to be 100% sure. :)

Thanks so much, ayl! If I got an MP 90/99, it'd be 3U, and should be even faster than 2U. I'll be waiting for your verdict :)

    Wow, that's definately wierd IMO.
    How can a 4U MP88 swing slower than a 2U MP90?!?!

I believe it's wrong labelling of the MP88. But even so, a 3U MP88 AUS should not swing slower than a 2U MP99 SP, let alone a 2U MP90 JP!

I've had a 3U MP88 SP before and IMO it's more manuevarable than my friend's 2U MP90 JP because I've tried them both before!

    Hmmm......

    G'day Tammy,

Had the chance to use the MP88 again tonight and I must say, it was head heavier than my MP90JP.....

I noticed the shaft has a sticker saying "Head Heavy Balance / Slim Shaft / Made in Japan" on it and it definately doesn't feel like a 4U racket. The racket appears to be a genuine item with all the correct Yonex laser etched markings on both shaft and handle grip......

So I am not sure why it feels so much heavier! Even my friend who owns the racket concurs that it is odd to have such a difference.....

God knows what we are getting here in Australia! ;)
